Winter Magic and Beauty of God’s Frost

February 5, 2019 By Mary Hill 1 Comment

I love the beautiful silver paintings frost makes across my lawn in the early mornings.  These beautiful winter mornings can become a time of true worship as I marvel at His beautiful artwork.

Did you know that the Bible states that frost comes from the breath of God? You will find the scripture in Job 37:10.  I will quote two versions:

It’s God’s breath that forms the ice,
it’s God’s breath that turns lakes and rivers solid. (The Message)

By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. (King James)

Spinning in the cold morning seeing my breath in white mists. Feeling His spirit descend into my soul.  I shared my feelings of blessings as I wrote this poem about my experience one cold winter morning in 2015 as I walked by a quiet stream near my neighborhood:

The sweet coldness and quiet of the stream brought a song to my heart of gratitude for God’s love.

I lifted my arms and spun, singing in my mind:

“Lord, your wonders fill my mind and stretch beyond my limited imagination.

I seek daily understanding and resolve to draw nearer.

Stretching to reach your hand that is before me in wonder and awe.

Your invitation is so real in my heart.

It is an invitation of love and fulfillment.

Joy passed all imagination.

I just need to stretch and reach for your will in my life.

I invite others on my journey.

Help me Lord to create a place that pulls them in and makes them yearn for you.

Oh, my Lord, I want others to hunger for you and yearn for you.

I stop my spinning and look up and see the beauty of your creation.

All is well with my soul. My winter visit with my Savior lingers in mind as I savor His love in my heart.

His Holy Word lightly caresses my mind as I meditate on the goodness and beauty of Him reflected in His Holy Word.

Job 10:12
Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

Psalms 8:4
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Luke 1:78
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us.
