Tami Qualls Glorifying God Through Motherhood

October 18, 2016 By Mary Hill 3 Comments

Tami Qualls is a momma focused on intentional mothering according to God’s special calling. Her blog’s focus is sharing special resources to help mammas everywhere keep up with the latest Christian reading.

She is also a resolute community builder having faithfully served as a host of the Literacy Musing Mondays community.

Want to find a wonderful read? I would bookmark her simple, creative website. I hope you enjoy her profile below.

 Tami Qualls

Tami Qualls: Biography

I am a 40 year old wife and mom. I worked outside the home for the majority of my two older children’s lives. They are now 19 and 17.  I recently left my job to focus on my youngest son’s speech needs and to homeschool. He is   3 1/2.Tami son

Tami Qualls : Gospel story, How she came to know Christ as her Savior.

I remember sitting in youth class at the age of 12. Our teacher was talking about hell and how everyone deserves to go to hell. I had always been told how good of a girl I was growing up. It hit me that I too was going to hell. I decided to repent of my sins and accept Jesus as my Savior. That was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Her Favorite Verse and How It Became Important to Her

For the longest time James 1:22 was my favorite verse. It was simply put how we as Christians should be living.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
Then I found myself unhappy with my work. Knowing I needed to be content with my circumstances, I also knew I needed change, as well.  Psalms 37:3-5 really spoke to me about getting my heart right. By delighting in Him first, I was able to see that I needed to be at home with my little guy. Having faith in His ability to bring me home, I am finally home.  (This happened after many years of unbelief that it could ever happen.)

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

Her Blogging Story

I first started blogging to just journal my thoughts.  Then I was offered the opportunity to read a book without paying for it. I was hooked on writing reviews at that point.  My first book review was

What does Piece de Resistance mean, anyway?

Her Blogging Mission

My blogging mission is to encourage other mommas, like myself, who want to be more intentional in their parenting, as well, as sharing reading resources that help us get there. My secondary mission is to encourage mommas to pass on their passion for books to their little ones.

Her Top Three Posts Based on Readership Statistics

Not including giveaway posts, the three posts with the most reader interaction are:

1. 7 Reasons Why I Love My Husband

2. Living a Life I Love {Goals for 2015}

3. Moody Mom: 4 Reasons Not to Be One

Her Three Favorite Posts

My blog consists of mostly book reviews, so I’ll share three of my favorite books. You can read my reviews via the links below.

1.) Here Burns My Candle by Liz Curtis Higgs. (all-time favorite fiction experience)

2.) Be a 24/7 Christian by Wade Akins (genuine christian living)

3.) Desperate by Sarah Mae & Sally Clarkson (motherhood, yes, it can be desperate)

What Inspires Her to Write for Christ?

While I don’t specifically write for Christ, I do try to keep all my book choices within God’s moral standards.

Her Favorite Song

My favorite hymn is Love Lifted Me. My favorite Christian singer is Shaun Groves with After the Music Fades being my favorite song from his albums.

Authors Who Inspire Her  or Motivate Her to Write

Michael Hyatt and Tammie Polk.

Her Blogging Tips

Don’t be afraid to share what’s on your heart. You may offend someone but you may also help someone who is struggling. Also, don’t
be discouraged by low readership. God will bring to your blog whomever needs to hear what He has led you to write.

Last Minute Thoughts On Inspiration and Uplifting

Being a mom is extremely difficult, especially when your child is in the middle of a meltdown and you are just too fatigued to give your child and the situation your ‘best’. Those days, I just want to give up. I want to walk out the door. I want to abandon my family and live alone in a one bedroom apartment buried in a good book. (Yes, I just admitted to that.)

Yet, I am reminded that I have had days like this before.  I got through those days, sometimes just holding onto the fact that I know my Savior wants me to stay put. This particular ‘bad moment’, like all the others, would eventually pass. Then we would have our wonderfully cherished memories to create … the laughing, the snuggling, the conversations.

Knowing my purpose is to glorify Him through my calling as a mother, I am able to get through those ‘bad moments’ and continue being the mom my kiddos need.  Not a perfect mom, just a mom who is present and intentional.

Michele, I enjoy the LMM Link up so much. Hubby says I have a book problem. LOL.

I am looking forward to homeschooling but am a little nervous as I venture into new territory.
