I met Susan Mead when she invited me to join her launch team for her book, Dance With Jesus (affiliate link). She also wrote a guest post for the Literacy Musing Mondays community. Her testimony and love for God are breathtaking.
I love this statement that I found on her blog. Susan writes a message that is simple, yet profound, “A moment in time does not define you, yet how you respond to it does.”
I hope you enjoy her profile.
Susan Mead: Biography
Susan Mead is an author, speaker, chaplain and mom with an MBA. She wrote the book, Dance with Jesus: From Grief to Grace, which hit #1 Amazon Hot New Release in Christian Grief on launch day. Susan spent 22+ years in corporate America with Johnson & Johnson and retired 10-years early as she realized things get broken, discarded and replaced in life, yet people matter… and she wanted to spend time with those who matter most to her.
Susan also learned God shines the brightest light in the darkest moments and shows up when we need him most. She now shares her journey to inspire, empower and equip others… You too can find grace in the midst of grief and calm in the chaos.
Susan Mead: Gospel story, How she came to know Christ as her Savior
My mother introduced me to Jesus Christ at an early age. She taught me I am never alone and to hold His hand, always. Literally! When I pray, my hands are typically tightly clasped as I’m holding on for dear life!
Her Favorite Verse and How It Became Important to Her
Psalm 91:11
For He orders His angels to protect you wherever you go.
This is my life verse.
As I sat in the grandstands at the 2013 Boston Marathon, the first bomb exploded directly across the street. The 2nd bomb exploded a block away. I felt the intense heat and my ears rang for 18+ months and 8 seconds later.
And I prayed, For He orders His angels to protect you wherever you go.
And He did and He does. I see it as my 911! prayer. See it? Psalm 91:11 = 911!

What Inspires Her to Write for Christ?
I “get” downloads that just seem like they are for me AND others. That may sound weird, yet many of us who write receive inspiration that simply feels larger than we are. And life is precious.

Last Minute Thoughts On Inspiration and Uplifting
These things inspire me butterflies, dragonflies, flowers, fawns, nature in all its glory and majesty. Blue water and white sand. All gifts from God.
God loves you. Uniquely and eternally. Bask in His glory as you rest in His profound presence. He holds you so very dear. Sit in the lap of your Father, the King, and rest your weary head on His mighty chest. Let His gracious hands hold yours. Do you feel it? Your soul settles and joy simply is. Yes, be still and know…
Now DANCE! Dance with Jesus™.

I got to know Susan through our Compel, Iron Sharpens Iron, group and what a joy it was to be mentored by her for a period of time. I read Dance with Jesus and I couldn’t wait to share it with my 20 something daughters. God really does care when our hearts ache and are torn apart. I couldn’t imagine going through what Susan did. She took a tragedy and allowed God to work through her and share it so others can benefit from it, to see the Hope we have in Jesus. Such a lovely lady, I’m so glad she found her Cabin in the Woods. By the way, this is an excellent idea, interviewing authors!
These are SO FUN and I love getting snapshots of the backstories of these writers… some I read and ‘know’ and some I hadn’t met yet! Thanks for this series, Mary!
It’s such a fun way to get to know others a bit better, isn’t it!?! And so generous of Mary to invite us to be part of her story. Thanks to both of you!
So fun to read more about Susan. She’s on my latest FMF Snail mail party list.
FUN to read Tara! Oh, yea, I need to print that out and start writing…
These bios make me realize that I need to listen to more Christian music. Thanks, Susan and Mary, for this uplifting post!
