Pray for Nepal

Will You Pray?

Bow your heads

Give your heart

Raise up your voices?

Then Will You Act today?

We can Make A Difference Together!

Two earthquakes in April and May 2015 in Nepal, both measuring over 7.0 on the Richter Scale. Death tolls nearing 9,000 people. Tragedy beyond imagination.

What is left in the remnants of life in the small country known for climbing the heights of Mt. Everest? Many newscasters focused on the deaths of climbers at the base camp. Few, however, went to Nepal and looked at the damage; spoke to the native people who are still suffering, many homeless without basic supplies to sustain life.

One group that has been on the ground since the first earthquake is Gospel for Asia. Gospel for Asia Compassion Services teams have provided relief supplies and hope to dozens of needy communities.

They have also worked with the victims and their families. People like Kaanan who lost his wife, son, daughter, and a niece when his house collapsed in the Nepal earthquake. The home is in debris, and he doesn’t know how he will rebuild or earn a livelihood to support his mother and youngest son. My heart is heavy for earthquake survivors like this man.

When you see stories like these, you can feel powerless. What do you do? Gospel Asia needs your help.

GFA Compassion Services teams have touched many lives through relief events during the past several weeks. They’ve focused on reaching remote, hard-to-reach villages where many lost homes, possessions, and sometimes loved ones. For more information on GFA’s relief work in Nepal, please visit http://gfa.org/earthquake/nepal.

The first thing you can do is pray for Nepal and the victims like Kaanan.  Gospel for Asia officials ask that your prayers be specific. Pray for:

  • Comfort and hope for those grieving
  • Protection from disease and danger
  • God’s provision and sustenance for relief teams
  • God to protect the earthquake victims as monsoon rains approach.\
  • Remote villages that are still waiting for relief.
  • Relief teams to continue shining the light of Christ as they assist needy communities.
  • Relief recipients to understand Jesus loves them.
  • God’s grace to be evident as He helps the nation of Nepal rebuild.

Please share your prayers for Nepal in the comments. Let’s lift up these people together. Prayer and faith can move mountains. Will your pray? You can also donate through GFA.ORG/NEPAL.

You can also learn more about the earthquake by reading the Huffington Post coverage. This article has poignant and moving pictures.

I close with this song about prayer for Nepal.

Hello fellow GFA blogger! I am your neighbor on Simple Moments Stick. Wonderful post about Nepal (I wrote about it too last week). Don’t you find that writing about Nepal and South Asia is such a blessing? It’s one of the ways God uses us for his purpose to spread His Word and good works through our blogs.
