Kristi Woods : Encouraging Women to Walk Deeper With God

October 23, 2016 By Mary Hill 3 Comments

Kristi Woods encourages women every where to deposit the Word of God deep into their hearts on Mondays.  She simply inscribes a verse on her blog for you to memorize and store in your mind and heart so that you find a closer walk with Jesus.

She writes:

God's Word is life for our bones ~ ammunition for our soul. Click To Tweet

I have read the scriptures each Monday, and they are a balm unto my soul. I hope you will enjoy her profile and be sure to check out her scripture for today :  #ScriptureBank2016, Week 40

Kristi Woods: Biography

I’m a writer and speaker passionate about seeing women walk deeper with God. I click words of encouragement at www.KristiWoods.net regularly and am published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Dreams and Premonitions, on Proverbs 31 Encouragement for Today Devotionals, and on various blogs. My retired-from-the-military husband, our three children, and I survived a nomadic lifestyle and are currently setting roots in Oklahoma.

Kristi Woods : Gospel story, How she came to know Christ as her Savior

I grew up a “good girl.” My family went to church most Sundays until a pastor’s affair, a battered church, and my father’s serious health scare changed that pattern. We stayed out of church for a while – most of my high school years. I grew up and moved on to college and life on my own. But “something” seemed to be missing. I lived south of Atlanta, Georgia in a small town called Newnan. A little country church, one set off the road a bit, caught my attention each time I passed it by. My boyfriend and I decided to visit the little church. After only one Sunday, we realized the steeple and those relationships underneath it were the missing link in our lives. We were hooked! But there was more: salvation. The pastor’s wife inquired about Jesus being Lord of my life. My answer went something like this: “Oh, yes. I’m a Christian. I’m a good girl. I grew up in church.”

That wasn’t enough for her – thank God! The lady I now call my spiritual mama urged me to consider that a self-proclaimed label of Christian and being born again might not be the same thing. I may not have heaven’s assurance after all. She was right. Nothing in scripture affirms being “good” or attending church as the way to heaven. Only Jesus Christ offers that. There, in that little church’s parking lot while sitting in our burgundy Ford Ranger, I prayed and asked Jesus to be Lord of my life. I’ve walked with Him ever since. Of course, He was faithfully waiting all along.

Her Favorite Verse and How It Became Important to Her

My favorite verse changes from time-to-time. Usually a recent revelation or urge by the Lord prompts the favorite verse. Right now, my go-to verse is PS 121:1-2 (NIV). It slipped into “favorite status” when a series of frustrating situations arose and I stewed about them versus looking to God for true help.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

Her Blogging Story

It seemed a reasonable outlet to write the words I believed God was setting on my heart. The words felt like they were bursting, the hope to see people step into spiritual maturity did as well. Keeping the words of encouragement “in” was out of the question. I’ve always been a reader and writer, so blogging made sense. It still does. I continue to pray, to ensure I’m on God’s path. “Stay the course” is what He continues to assure, and so I do.

Her Blogging Mission

To encourage believers, especially women, to walk deeper with God – that’s my blogging mission. There are pews and chairs filled with folks that are saved but aren’t walking in spiritual maturity. There’s so much more they’re missing and so much glory God isn’t gaining! I have a burning passion to see women walk in Monday through Sunday worship vs. simply being satisfied as Sunday pew sitters.

What Inspires Her to Write for Christ?

He does. The burning desire He’s placed in me won’t let go. I must place words on paper and in the air for the cause of Christ – so others will consider Him and grow up in their faith.

Her Favorite Song

There are so many good songs! How’s a girl to choose? Worship music often fills my airwaves, but here’s one that has solid lyrics and a beat that’ll cause any girl to grab her spiritual giddy-up and go.

Authors Who Inspire Her  or Motivate Her to Write

Suzie Eller ~ I consider this woman my writing mentor. She has to be one of the gentlest people walking this earth.
Joyce Meyer ~ the Lord used her for years to feed me spiritually. Her practical writing always gives me hope.
John Bevere ~ his writing flows with such a powerful anointing.

The COMPEL Training gals ~ Glynnnis Whitwer, Suzie Eller, Karen Ehman, Lysa Terkeurst, and Lisa Allen mainly, but more are sprinkled in from time to time. They teach with such generosity and solid guidance.

A Personal Blogging Story

It was early morning. Comments were already filtering in. My writing was published as a guest devotional on Proverbs 31 that particular Friday. As I began reading the comments, answering and praying for their authors, the Holy Spirit rushed to the scene with revelation. He opened my eyes to the seriousness of the task. Ministry with words, whether written or spoken, is deeply impacting. The reality danced to life that day in a whole new way. Honestly, I’m not certain these words do the experience justice, but it was a pivotal point in my ministry.

Her Blogging Tips

Keep eyes on the prize ~ Jesus and heaven. Live a life in worship. The writing will come.

Last Minute Thoughts On Inspiration and Uplifting

Writing often isn’t an easy journey. If you believe God has called you to write for Him, keep writing. Keep eyes focused on Him only. Looking around at others in comparison will only open discouragement’s door.

…in him all things hold together. Col. 1:17 (NIV)
