#LMMLinkup: Celebrating Fathers

June 19, 2016 By Mary Hill 11 Comments

Welcome back to our linkup and Happy Father’s Day! This is our Father’s Day edition. I know this may sound like a duh statement, but fathers are so important to families. Great fathers raise children in love and point the way to our Almighty Father and God.

My Rock, Love and wonderful father, Ricky

My wonderful husband is a great father. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

I miss my father this Father's Day.

I miss my father this Father’s Day.

I hope you all are having wonderful times with the fathers in your life. I miss my father. He died in May 1999, but I have excellent fathers in my life, including my husband whom really exemplifies how fathers should love their children.

Today, our pastor spoke on the importance of fathers, and how we as parents should strive to help our children develop in obedience through love and encouragement not by authoritarian parenting methods that lead to children feeling abused and unloved if they do not measure up to our standards.

What are your thoughts on parenting? What great books and resources can you share? In honor of the Father’s Day holiday here are some of my favorite posts on parenting:

  • Literacy Musing Mondays: How to Cultivate Love in Family
  • Prayers for Learning

  • A Creative Look at Early Childcare Quality

  • Finding Joy and Laughter in Parenting

  • Parenting Series: Toddler Years and Dialogic Reading

  • A Mother’s Calling

  • Sweet Whispers of a Mother’s Love

Now on to our weekly Literacy Musing Monday’s linkup where we link up posts about what inspires you in reading, writing, blogging, and even share our written Bible devotions.

First,  let’s

This is a great linkup to participate in. This week the organizer is also inviting you to linkup your GoodReads profiles. She also featured great family books I want to read!  I hope you will check out her post. 😉

My Favorite Post of the Week:

50 Things To Do with Kids Before They Grow Up.

By Cristina Mandeville at A Bountiful Love

Cristina prioritizes her list and starts it off with the most important thing you can do with your children as a parent. I don’t want to give it away so please make sure you head over to check it out! I also love this quote from her post:

Linkup Rules:

  1. Include a link back or the blog hop button linked to this hop on your posts.
  2. Link up the urls to your posts not to your blog.
  3. Please remember this is a family-friendly linkup. Although we believe in the right for adults to read whatever they want to read, we prefer to read wholesome posts that feature literature that edify and uplift families. We reserve the right to delete any posts that are not family friendly. We love all kinds of literature and genres including family-friendly inspirational romances, fantasy, or science fiction. We do not welcome posts featuring books or writing with excessive violence, sexual content, or cursing. These posts will be deleted.
  4. We also want to be loving community by supporting one another. Please make a point to do this this week! Visit the two posts before yours and at least one other blogger’s post of your choice! I want to see lots of clicks on everyone’s posts. Remember it is also nice to follow them on their social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
