Blessings of Family

November 5, 2017 By Mary Hill 3 Comments

The love of my heart.

Toddler whisperer.

Papa, dad.

His smile makes my toes curl.

His infectious laughter spreads with joy.

My husband.

My daughter on our summer vacation to Georgetown, SC.

Beauty with twinkling eyes,

Her jokes create gut laughter that rumbles and spreads like a warm hug enveloping my soul.

She leaves a piece of heart with those she touches.

My daughter.

Grands not afraid to adventure and explore.

They giggle and play through the day, lighting a home up with love.

One loves to draw whales; the other joins in pageants and twirls a baton.

Three not shown, growing too quick.

Family —

Nieces, nephews.

Brothers and a sister.

Cousins.

A father in heaven.

A stepfather, I call Papa Brown.

God blesses us all with family members -- all shapes and sizes.

Families grow and expand. With each new member, we find more reasons for gratitude.

Today’s topic centered on a family member for which I am grateful. I couldn’t narrow it down to just one family member. I thought of featuring the love of my life,my husband, but my family encompasses so much of my life. Jesus blessed me with an ever growing family, filled with special times of love. Like all families, mine suffers dark time, but we try to love each other through.

How does your family bless you?

This post continues my special series celebrating gratitude. As we approach the Holy Season of Advent, first I fix my mind on thankfulness. Thankfulness is a state of being. It is part of the cross that we deliberately choose to pick up each day as we follow Christ. To celebrate Thankfulness, I have created a Fall Bible study and journey that I invite you to join with me.

As I write this series, I am also joining Jennifer Dukes Lee’s 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge. Her beautiful graphic above lists 30 daily gratitude topics on which I will base each day’s post this month.

Even though the posts will be short, I plan to pack them with inspiration and Scriptural truths as we lead up to the Thanksgiving holidays and then flow into Christmas. This series is my gift to you.

Sometimes fewer words are more impactful. I love this.

I don’t know where I’ll be without family. Source of strength and joy.
