Wonderful Week of Accomplishments, Love, and Laughter

Last week, I listed 10 things of thankful related to surviving the great blizzard and earthquake of 2014. This week, the snow melted and life returned to a hectic normal.

1. Today’s church services were very inspirational. The theme centered on grace and Jesus’s sacrifice for us.
2. We celebrated last night with a homemade-cake luck. Instead of a pot-luck dinner, the church women brought their homemade cakes and exchanged recipes. Yum.
3. Speaking of cake, on Saturday, we celebrated the third birthday of my grandson.  He is a miracle baby because during his fourth month of life he suffered alleged abuse from his father.  My step-daughter has left the man who is now awaiting formal trial on the charges of shaking his baby. The abuse caused my grandson to become blind for about three to four months and motor development delays. 

4.  He didn’t walk til after his 18 month. Doctors told us we would be lucky if he could see. Well, he sees and recognizes all his letters and numbers up to 20.  He is beginning to remember the sounds the letters make. He walks great, runs, laughs, and plays.  

5. He loves pirates so his theme for his birthday was Jake the Pirates.

6. He has never met a letter that he didn’t like. He brought me several of his letters from a block set his mom got him. “E,” he would say. “I like e. E is nice.”  He took d the three off his cake and pointed to it, “I love my 3.”

7.  I mentioned this last week, but Tuesday my daughter was formally inducted into the National Junior Beta Club. 

8. This Saturday she will participate in her school’s Cancer Society Relay Pageant.  She is dedicating her participation to the memory of both her grands, my husband’s. mother and father. They both died of cancer in the 1990s.

9. I am excited and thrilled that we found the dress above for the pageant for just $95. It is regularly a $250 dress.

10. Another week of laughter and fun too look forward too.  We have a busy week ahead.

  3. What a shame about your grandson. Bless his heart. They are such precious little ones that need our love. I’m glad he’s thriving.

  4. Goodness, so glad to hear your grandson is making a miraculous recovery! So much to be thankful for. Congrats to your daughter and her scholastic achievements. And great score on that dress!
