I am Christian. I make this state of being my central focus daily. I love Jesus because He died for me. I write about His love for all, hoping that my readers will desire to follow Him too. He is so good to me. He guides and loves me. Without Him, I fall and flounder and am lost.
I am a wife and mother and my family is large with four children (3 are his from a first marriage and we share a daughter.) I worked as a journalist for almost 20 years, counting my collegiate experience as well as my work with radio stations after I left newspaper work. Then I went into education and worked almost 10 years more, working as a school library media specialist, early literacy specialist, and adjunct professor for a local technical college. Even as an educator my love for the writing, books, and literacy flourished.
I faced forced retirement a few years ago because of my crippling, painful diseases of arthritis and fibromyalgia. Writing about Jesus and His love saved me from depression and gave me new direction.
I am not the sum of my pain. My friend, Tessa, wrote about her desire to shine a light on the plight of those suffering with invisible disabilities. I am that person too. Tonight is a bad night. It is 3:30 and I can’t to do sleep because of pain. It hurts to sit, to lie down, to walk. I can’t climb a flight of steps. Despite the pain and lack of mobility, I am a writer. I love sharing inspirations with others.
The world is a large place full of darkness and hatred. I am a seeker of love and justice. I want to provide a message of hope and encouragement.
I am a writer who uses writing as a tool to help others overcome setbacks and dispair. I write to inspire, lift up, and encourage.

Keep writing dear Mary. I pray you will find some relief for your arthritis, the nights are so long when pain steals sleep.

Kathleen, your prayers are so appreciated. Thank you.
Beautiful photos, Mary! I’m inspired by your positive attitude–to do what you can do instead of complaining about what you can’t. May God use you to minister to those with fibromyalgia and other chronic diseases.
