My kitten tests my resolve to write today. This little creature keeps jumping on me as I type. Runs across my keyboard and then pushes up against my chin purring. I tell her to play and gently toss her to the ground. She means well, but why does she do this every time she sees me open my computer. Now, she plays with the cord. I shew her away.
Distractions can test us every day as we strive to fulfill God’s call in our life. Today it is a kitten and my dog, Lily, whining at the door to come back into the house. Other days, I face tiredness and pain. Still other days, serious problems rear their ugly heads and knock me flat.
Still, I must push on through in faith and look past the distractions and pass the current test of my resolve. Sister, our testing bears more than a grade of our effort. When I persevere in faith through a test, I draw closer to God. He then uses me to help others and to reach them for His kingdom.
Our tests become soul-work. If I persevere, maybe, I inspire another lost soul to look unto Him and to seek salvation. That is my prayer today.
What tests are you facing today? How do you fight your way through? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Gratitude in the Valley of Shadows

By Sarah Geringer at MessyMarriage.com
In this poignant guest post for Beth Steffaniak, Sarah reminds us that in all our circumstances, whether desperate or bright, we must resolve to be thankful. She writes:
“We can choose to give thanks to God, even while living out our worst fears. No matter which valley we walk through, we can look for glimpses of gratitude on the journey.”
She then reveals how, when she lived thankfulness, her circumstances remained the same, but her heart changed. God delivered her.
Read this excellent post to learn more about why we should resolve to live in thankfulness.

Good Things Are Coming
Kaitlyn reminds us that even in the most extended, dryest season, we need to fasten our hope on Him. My favorite quote from this great post:
“The road isn’t straight, and the ground isn’t always level, but you feel Him beside and hear Him
saying ‘“this is the way, walk in it.’”

Thank you so much for highlighting my post, Mary! I appreciate it and hope the words will encourage many.
I am so glad that He never tires of reminding me to look up to Him. I get stuck looking around at everything that is so heavy. But He already knows, and He wants to help me follow so closely to Him. Thank you for sharing these thoughts, Mary!
Oh, heavens! This writing life is DEFINED by distraction. And there are also days when I’m sure that if it were not for the so-called “distractions,” I’d have nothing to write about!

Great words. I so easily get distracted from the real work God has for me. I end up doing something good but not what God had in mind. Maree

My kitty does the exact same thing! Neville is really good at distracting me when I’m trying to write.
Struggling with another recent diagnosis at the moment…so putting my head down & getting on with hopefully turning it around with God.
Blessings,

“our testing bears more than a grade” Oh, I’m sitting with that for a bit. laurensparks.net
I’m struggling with a potential schedule conflict. I am speaking at a retreat in a few weeks and I am praying that if my son ends up having a championship football game the time does not conflict. I’m praying (and asking others to pray) because it’s the only thing (and the best thing) to do!

Great reminder to look at the big picture of what God is doing. It’s comforting to know even when we go through trials that He has our best interest at heart. God bless!

Distractions … they definitely come, don’t they! For me, it’s been tiredness and migraines lately. But life is definitely full of them. It’s so good to remember how God is using them for our good and His glory!
