Summer Read-a-Thon Fun : Are You Up for a Challenge?

First up for the week-long read-a-thon is to introduce ourselves and set up our goals.
1.) Where are you blogging from?
The state of South Carolina where I worked as a school librarian from 1999 to 2010. I also served on the SC School Librarians’ Young Adult Book Award Committee from 2001 to 2004.

2.) Why did you start blogging/reading?
I retired because of disabilities. I started blogging this year because I wanted to have a creative outlet and to work toward my goals of becoming a professional novelist. I have enjoyed meeting so many people across the world. I did not know the blogosphere was so huge and diverse. I have read since I was a tween.  The first novel that I ever read was Betty Cavanna’s Accent on April which I read in the fifth grade in 1978.

3.) What is your favorite genre?
My favorite genre is suspense and mystery. I love keeping myself up at night trying to figure out who dun it or if my hero or heroine is going to survive the novel.


4.) What are you goals for the challenge? 
To learn about new authors and books to read and to finish the novel that I am currently reading.

I am only on page 101 of this novel.  So far, it has been very exciting. Here is the GoodReads summary of the book:
