The resurrection happened more than 2000 years ago. Jesus arose and walked with His disciples for 40 days before He ascended unto Heaven to live with His Father.
I imagine their joy and their faith rebounding as they see their Lord keep His promise to rise again. Death could not win. Satan’s plans foiled.
He rose again as promised. He came back from the dead!
Sometimes, I wish my birth took place during this period of miracles and amazing times. Jesus, however, said Christians who believed after He left this earth will be blessed more than the disciples. Our faith compared to their is greater because we did not live during Jesus’s time.
John 20: 29 Jesus saith unto him (Thomas), Because thou hast seen me, [c]thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
We also did not experience the miracles and the works of Christ. We did not live with or walk with Him. Our hope is based on faith alone not a first-hand personal experience.
Christ’s call us blessed. His promise rings true for me. I hold fast to Him without having seen Him with my own eyes. Thomas challenged Him to show him His nail scars and to allow Him to touch them before he believed in Jesus’s resurrection. Jesus sured up His faith by doing just that. He did this out of a deep love for Thomas. He did not respond in anger at Thomas’s lack of faith. he responded in love.
Have you ever had a time that you doubted in Christ? I know I have. Dare to pray a Thomas prayer. Jesus will respond with love and reassurance.
As I think of Thomas today, I pray that Jesus show Himself to me in real and tangible ways. Not because I doubt Him, but because I want to feel His breath on my face. I want to reach out and take His nail scarred hand and kiss it. I want Him to be so real to me that I see Him in new and deeper ways.
I want to feel as 1: Peter 1: 8-9 declare: Because I believe without having seen Him, I am filled with unspeakable joy. I believe He is alive, resurrected, and my Savior, my Strength, and my Love.
He is Alive In Me. He works through Me. He is all I need.

Mary, doubt can so easily control us and cause us worry and stress. We need to rest in the promise that Jesus is always with us. Thanks for the reminder to think like Thomas and ask for a tangible experience to grow our faith.

Hey there! I’m visiting you from Carolina’s Open Mic Monday link-up. I also recognize you from CirclingTheStory, com. It’s so nice to visit your blog officially. I was struck by these last lines: “He is Alive In Me. He works through Me. He is all I need.” Even though we don’t experience Christ in the way that the disciples experienced Him, He still lives in us! We feel Him. He speaks to us through people, music, nature, etc. Like you, I pray that I continue to feel Him in “real and tangible ways.” Thank you so much for sharing your words!
Monica, so glad you stopped by. I enjoyed reading your comment. He is alive in me. I love how you added that He speaks to us in so many ways.

I know exactly what you mean, Mary! This happens to me when I worry about things. That doubt slowly starts to crawl in and then just wants to take over. I am praying for you! Hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for sharing with #SocialButterflySunday! Happy Belated Easter 🙂

Love what you share about Thomas here. I’ve struggled with doubt, but in turning it to God, He’s used it to strengthen my trust in Him. He’s done the most amazing things in response to me choosing to express my anger at Him. As I’ve dared to be myself before Him, to draw near to Him, He’s revealed Himself even more and encouraged me so very much, precisely when I’ve been so discouraged and overcome by grief.
God is amazing, isn’t He! I love your heart here: the joy of the LORD is palpable in the words you share.
Anna thank you for sharing your heart. I will pray for you. 🙂
