Gratitude that My God Reigns Over Evil

During the past few days, I suffered attacks from dark forces and even a direct attack for my stance on issues.
It seems when you want to fall in love with Christ and draw closer, darkness tries to prevail.
I remained silent the last few days in prayer.
As I prayed and went through personal struggles, one thing kept coming through.
I love Jesus. He is the Lord of my life.
I will remain silent no more and return to gratitude.
Why the attacks now? The dark forces try to silence me for a purpose. Am I reaching others and providing hope?
Satan seeks to destroy our faith and our influence.
He seeks to destroy our country through division and chaos.
But our Lord provides.
Jesus buttressed us with provisions for us in this battle.
He assigns us full armor of God.
Ephesians 6: 13-17
So that (we) may be able to resist in the evil day, and
having prepared everything, to take our stand. 14 Stand, therefore,
with truth like a belt around your waist,
righteousness like armor on your chest,
15 and your feet sandaled with readiness
for the gospel of peace.
16 In every situation take the shield of faith,
and with it you will be able to extinguish
all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit,
which is God’s word.
I am grateful I have a Lord that rescues from distress and from evil.
I am saddened by the massacre of innocent children and their families.
This congregation’s faith rested on God. Their love for the Lord shined forth.
I found this video of a church service with the lead singer faithfully leading his congregation in a song of thanks and gratitude.
If you noticed the guitar player on the right, he died in the massacre Sunday.
I also visited the YouTube channel of this church. Christ reigned there:
This event did not even impact me personally. I still have my family and community, but I feel the blows and sadness to my core. I weep.
Now, however, I turn back to gratitude because my God Reigns.
I know the faith of those taken shine forth strongly. They are in heaven with God.
This post continues my special series celebrating gratitude. As we approach the Holy Season of Advent, first I fix my mind on thankfulness. Thankfulness is a state of being. It is part of the cross that we deliberately choose to pick up each day as we follow Christ. To celebrate Thankfulness, I have created a Fall Bible study and journey that I invite you to join with me.
As I write this series, I am also joining Jennifer Dukes Lee’s 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge. Her beautiful graphic above lists 30 daily gratitude topics on which I will base each day’s post this month.
Even though the posts will be short, I plan to pack them with inspiration and Scriptural truths as we lead up to the Thanksgiving holidays and then flow into Christmas. This series is my gift to you.
