Not a Lucky Day for Writing: The Muse is Silent

March 12, 2014 By Mary Hill 9 Comments

WRITE. Every day in March write a slice of life story on your own blog. SHARE. Link your post in the comments on each daily call for slice of life stories here at TWT. GIVE. Comment on at least three other slice of life stories/blogs.

Today has been one of those days where the rubber met the road, the stuff hit the fan. I can’t even come up with a good cliche.  I have not had any inspirational thoughts or ideas. I am sure you have had those days yourself right?

My friend, Josie Two Shoes, has this weekly writing hop where she gives you two words to write about. This week’s words are keepsake or lucky. I didn’t have anything to write about either word.

I don’t feel lucky this week at all.  My car is still leaking coolant; we lost the bunnies to the rain; and my daughter was sick again with another earache.

I will try again tomorrow.  I guess that is the good thing about writing. Some days you have very little to write about and the muse is quiet while other days your hands fly over the keys.

So, I will return in the morning and start over and hopefully my muse will return and I will write poetic prose.

One lucky thing did happen this week. I just found out that I was featured. 🙂

I am also joining these fun blog hops for Tuesday:

Smell the Flowers, then
Read me a True Story

Hope your week improved. Sometimes I have writers block which is a wonder since I never have talkers block.

Oh, no!!! I am so sorry about your bunnies and everything else bad that happened this week! I’ve been getting a up and down muse this week also. I hope next week is better! : )

I think some of our best writing comes from having a blank sheet in front of us. We are so powerful then, we can do anything, there are no constraints. In this way what you posted was excellent.

I once went to a reading where the author was asked what to do about writers’ block. What you did was exactly her answer: you wrote! It’s the only way, even when you have no inspiration, have nothing to say. I’m glad you posted despite your unlucky writing day. I hope your daughter feels better soon and that your car is fixed. And I’m sorry about the bunnies. 🙁

Thank you for sharing your story about “Nothing to write” with us here at Tell Me a True Story. At times we are all in that boat and I sit there rowing along with you. Perhaps tomorrow something will float to the surface and we can get this boat to move.

I am so familiar with days and weeks like this Mary, sometimes nothing really seems to go right, and it is impossible to collect our thoughts and let the creative juices flow. Writing is something that cannot be forced. I honestly thought you did a good job here talking about being lucky, or not so lucky as it seems. But then you finished up with some very bright news, which I think had a bit to do with luck and even more to do with a good writing on your part – congratulations! Always, even on cloudy days when our hearts feel heavy, God gives us reasons to smile! Thank you for sharing with us at Two Shoes Tuesday!

I was have a writing block today. Nothing was coming to me that I wanted to write about. I almost just wrote about scattered thoughts. Lol. I wish I had read your slice first, because II immediately thought of something for the words keepsake and lucky! 🙂 Maybe tomorrow.
