Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth (breakthrough);
shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, [and] rivers in the desert.
Almost three weeks into the New Year, and I struggled to find my One Word. I prayed and prayed more.
I need a breakthrough year in all areas of my life: Growing Closer to God through praying and reading my Bible; building a better marriage and thriving in parenting and grandparenting, serving as a member of large, extended family; finding or rediscovering life-long friends and community; succeeding in my writing life, blogging and publishing; and and last but not least improving my health by losing weight, exercising more, and eating food that is nutritional.
First, I strive to complete my breakthrough blueprint for 2018,
Breakthrough: Growing Closer to God
Growing closer to God means listening to His leadership in my life. Reading His word more. Praying More. Becoming a more spirit-filled wife, mother, and friend. Becoming a part of His community through my church.
I seek to breakthrough in witnessing about Him. How Christ came and died for all. As a measure of my breakthrough, I hope to plant fruit in the lives of the unbeliever so that they will come to know Him and seek His salvation.
Breakthrough : My Marriage
My breakthrough verse:
Ephesians 4:2-3:
“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
To breakthrough and rediscover the love and truth of my marriage I will take these steps:
- Identifying my strengths of my marriage.
- Identifying areas that need improvement.
- Finding time to grow closer to my husband; using our morning and night time routines more diligently to rekindle our love, our communication sparks; our spiritual bonding with Christ.
Breakthrough: Grandparenting and Parenting
In 2018, I will strive to improve my relationship with all my children and grandchildren.
Proverbs 22:6
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
I answer the call, to faithfully parent and grandparent with prayer, study, and diligence.
Breakthrough in My Writing Life
Psalm 45:1
“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.”
As I walk through my year, I seek to find time to write more, diligently; setting achievable goals such a writing three times a week on my goal; writing however He leads. Praying over my writing projects that I want to complete. Will this be my year to breakthrough in devotional writing, poetry, or creative nonfiction; or maybe finish my novels that I have sitting on my computer incomplete and sketchy?
Life meanders through a valley of choices. I seek the better choices, breakthrough and becoming more victorious in my life; while pointing others to Christ, showing how He is the Way, the Truth, the Light.
Breakthrough: Health and Losing Weight
Romans 12: 1-2
I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God,
to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God,
which is your spiritual worship.
As I approach this area, I strive to exercise daily and select foods that will help me lose weight and build a healthier body.

I love how you found scripture to support each one of your goals. Bless us all in our goals for God’s glory. I’ve been trying to walk 20 min a day, going to bed earlier and reading the One Year Bible. I don’t always make it but keep going anyway.

I love how you listed areas of breakthrough. I don’t think I’ve ever read Psalm 45:1 and related it to writing. I’m loving that verse right now! My one word is confidence: But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.” Jeremiah 17:7 I want my confidence to be in the Lord this year.
Trusting you will breakthrough in many areas of your life. Love the verse.
I love how you have divided up the areas that you are in need of Breakthrough this year and have searched out a verse to help you stay on track! So good!!! My One Word is Joy and after the year we had last year, we are SO ready for it!
This is a great word from the Lord for your year! I appreciated all of the Scripture that He gave you, and the song fits so perfectly! My word is “sufficient.” And He is already beginning the lessons!
Bettie G. thanks so much. I appreciate your support.
