It is the back to school season. Our schools start back in less than three weeks; while schools in neighboring states are already back in session.
How are you preparing for this back-to-school season? Do you homeschool or send your children to public or private school? There are many school options for parents these days, but no matter which option you choose preparation for the start of a new school year requires planning.

In my part of the world, schools opened long back in the first week of June. Here the summer vacations are for April and May. This year my 6 year old started Grade 1 and it wasn’t a good start since he was not able to adjust to the longer school timings. 2 months later, now, he is well settled and doing well. I will be looking forward to read back-to-school posts so as to equip myself for next year when he will start Grade 2.
I wish our vacations were in April and May because it is much cooler weather, but the kids could not swim then. Summers and times seem to fly. I hope we can have posts for back to school in the next few weeks that will help your prepare.

Our local school starts back up in 3 1/2 weeks but since I homeschool we have yet to pick an official back to school date. I’m sure we’ll start hitting the books soon with just one or two subjects for the first few weeks to ease ourselves back into the routine of it all. Plus we like to keep the actual book work light that first month and take lots of field trips now that we have most places to ourselves again.

Ours are all out of school except that our youngest (age 24) is taking classes online, but he pretty much takes care of all the preparation himself. I was in W-Mart a few days ago when a lot of kids and parents were swarming around the school supplies. In some ways I miss that, in other ways I am glad we’re not in that stage any more. 🙂 The one way the county school schedule most affects me is in having to watch the clock when I leave so I don’t get stuck in school traffic. 🙂
