Living the 3 L’s of Community

Ecclesiastes Chapter 4  9 Two [are] better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him [that is] alone when he falleth; for [he hath] not another to help him up.11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm [alone]? 12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Hebrews 10:24 – And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.

Galatians 6:2 – Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Ephesians 4:29 – Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Abide in Love and Unity

An original poem

By Mary Hill

It is not good to be alone and unconnected

The wind will blow you away

The world will beat you down

Life will eat away at your promise

Community will sustain you

Create in you the desire to reach others

With truth, love, and hope.

Being in community takes bravery, though

You have to follow three simple rules

1.  Love one another

Real love that passes all understanding

That does not say what will I get in return

But what can I give?

2.  Listen to one another

Don’t be the one to do all the speaking,

Let your sister, brother have voice

Listen to their pleas and needs with open ears.

3. Lift one another up by bearing each other’s burdens

Act on the other’s burdens through

Prayer and actual deeds

Living in true community requires

Loving, listening, and lifting

How do you live community? What are your thoughts? Please share.

Ephesians 4:29 is one of the first verses I memorized. It’s important for our words to edify.

I love these verses and your poem Mary!

I belong to a church, yet I am seeking community. My Christian journey is currently very solitary, I would like to find some friends who are also in Christ.

Thanks for sharing and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop.

    Wishing you a lovely weekend.
    xoxo

Hi Mary! What a great post. Yes, without community we can be unconnected and possibly blow away. This is so true. Sometimes in this cyber world I don’t feel as connected as I need to be, but I am working on it. Thanks for this post. Blessings! Cathy

Perfect Bible verses and poem. I’m so glad you are part of the Spiritual Journey community! If we all thought like this, wouldn’t the world be a better place?
