Literacy Musing Mondays: Celebrating 2016

January 3, 2016 By Mary Hill 23 Comments

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  We wrapped up our holidays yesterday by putting away our Christmas tree and Christmas decorations. Now, we are celebrating the beginning of 2016!

The New Year often brings declarations of resolutions or in some cases one word to focus on for the year.   Are you making resolutions or focusing on one word?

I have not decided or even planned for the New Year yet. I savored my holiday season with family. I am not even sure I plan to make resolutions or focus on one word for 2016.  I am going to take my time and pray first. Right now, I have two days left until my daughter and husband return to work; so, I am going to enjoy the last day of holiday vacation not worrying about 2016 and beyond.

A quick announcement: we are looking for guest posters for January!  Please contact Mary at marykatbpcsc45 at gmail (d0t) com if you are interested.  You can also comment in my comment area below leaving your email address in a safe way and we will contact you.  Potential topics could include winter titles not to miss; reading and learning goals with great resources. All weeks are open for the rest of January; so let us know soon so we can schedule you in.  🙂

So onto our linkup. What are you reading this week? What are you goals and plans for 2016?  Share. We love all your posts about a literacy, reading, writing, and learning.

My One Word for 2016

By Scraping Raisins

Days before I ran across this new challenge (can you tell I'm an overachiever...), God seemed to be preparing me with a single word.
Leslie is not new to our Most Read post for the week.  She wrote the most-read post last week. This week she invites us to choose one word for 2016, and she explains why she selected the word: Enjoy. Be sure to check out her post!  What is your one word for the New Year? Have you written a post about it? Be sure to share it this week in the linkup so we can all read it and encourage you. 😉

So happy to hear that you have been enjoying lots of family time during the Christmas and New Year season. I am still in denial that school starts tomorrow, but am trusting for grace – for energy too! I do not have a word for 2016, but am asking myself all kinds of questions about how I use my time, and how I view time. Praying for wisdom!
Blessings to you, Mary, and a blessed 2016!

Happy Monday! This week I’m reading “Brain on Fire,” by Susannah Cahalan. I’m only three chapters in, but am incredibly fascinated and engaged, thus far. Thanks for the opportunity to join in the link-up. I always enjoy making new friends, and seeing what other bloggers are up to. Hoping your 2016 is off to an incredible start!
