New
An Original Poem
By Mary Hill
The smell of a new born baby,
Fresh and sweet in your arms.
The melody of the bird in flight,
Their wings tipped to the horizon.
Compare to the new morning light
When it shines on the frosty, icy ground,
Reflecting beauty all around.
Celebrating newness of day, heart, and mind.
Sinful people try to destroy the new
Celebrating newness of day, heart, and mind.
Sinful people try to destroy the new
And unusual out of fright and blindness.
The newborn baby in jeopardy.
The newborn baby in jeopardy.
The morning light all but snuffed out.
God, however, relishes in new creations and new salvations.
He sets the heavens to praise in loud voices,
With stars shining in the midnight and blackness.
Some call the brightness, angels praying with song.
They welcome the coming new dawn.
When we recognize the salvation in God’s creation;
Recognize the One then all things become new
In us, sin and shame vanquished;
Death, destruction, and fright destroyed.
New life emerges, new hope, and new faith
All await a simple whisper of simple words
Bring me the newness, bring me the love,
Cry out in acceptance of His great sacrifice
When He spread arms into the afternoon sun
And darkness fell as evil tried to conquer
The great hope of mankind.
With a bow of His head and last breath,
Darkness failed to stop the new, the beautiful, the praise, the love.
Listen for the new babies’ cries of joy of new life,
The bird song in flight
And the stars singing in the night
With faith for the dawn.
The love of the Word brings victory and renewal
Just lift your eyes to the horizon;
Simple acceptance is all that is required.

I love 2 Corinthians 5:17, which is one of the verses my pastor read for me on the day I decided to accept Jesus as my personal Savior.
Thank you for sharing your poem, and the verses from the Bible.
Newness equal discovery. Such a nice and fulfilling poem today Mary. Acceptance, hope…so many things that can help in life and our journey with God.
