This poem is a rewrite of one that I started in March 2013. I focus on taking chances and leaps of faith in my writing and discuss my techniques to find inspiration.
Taking Gigantic Leaps of Faith To Write And Share

Taking leaps of faith like butterflies on the wind.
When I start something anew
I leap into it
With abandonment,
Springing and kicking.
Gambling creatively on my future and my heart
Fearing failure but daring to be brave and move forward despite the obstacles, risks
Life is a twisty, turning road that takes us to unexpected places of no return.
Seconds and minutes tick away and there is no catching them back.
These passing increments of time tick away.
They’re like butterflies and moths.
Fluttering seconds catch the wind and ride.
Moths eat at the fabric of our days until they are gone and decay.
Memories fleeting on the breeze, wondering why we did not catch that other wind and ride it?
Why we did not forge that path to another day?
We are women who dare to be, who dare to challenge, who dare to risk.
Time is against us. We are always one heart beat away from
Successful failures — never failing successes.
We learn; we grow; and we move on to the next time to leap and start anew.
Leaps of Faith: Reflections
I leap into the unknown daily with my writing. Often I will stare at a blank screen, waiting for a breath of inspiration. Seeing butterfly gossamer wings, I think about the delicacy and intricacy of capturing thoughts to write.
I seek guidance for my writing from the Holy Spirit, hoping and praying what I have to share will touch and encourage others. Sometimes, I look at past writing attempts and edit them, hoping to clarify a theme or approach as I did with the poem above. Sometimes, I start from scratch and just write what flows into my mind. Often these pieces end up in my draft files for days, months and even years.
What leaps of faith are you taking today in your creative life? What inspires you and how do capture your writing muse?

“Moths eat at the fabric of our days until they are gone and decay” – my favorite line…
Writing is more than words on paper, and yes, it does often take courage to write.
Inspiring words. Glad to have visited you blog 🙂
Nimi, thanks so much for your kind words. 🙂
