Winter a simple canvas of ice and white against the backdrop of nature.
Quiet days where birds huddle together on branches.
Evenings without the sounds of chirping crickets.
Just a hush over meadows and fields.
Where is winter’s simplicity throughout the year?
Even in the midst of her quietness, we bog down in to-do lists, goals, and resolutions.
It is good to take time from the daily rush and just enjoy peace, quiet, and solitude.
God has so much for us.
He wants us to spend time with Him. He wants to fill our minds with peace, love, and joy.

I wrote the above in five minutes.
I rushed through my days this week, trying to make goals for the New Year while looking forward to great achievements.
I read that a blog post needs to be at least 1200 words to rank with Google search engines. I guess my posts will never rank with Google, but they will rank with Him.
How can you accomplish this feat with simplicity in mind?

We don’t have much winter here and when we do, it comes in short bursts. We do go to a cabin in the mountains at least once during the winter and it’s nice to kick back, play cards with the grandkids, do more reading, and forget about make-up (secretly that’s my favorite part! LOL).

This is so interesting. But I started to write shorter posts beginning 2018 because as I have read different devotionals over the years, I find the ones that are less wordy are the ones that pack the most spiritual punch, and that I meditate the most over. It’s easier to remember that one take home message and carry it with me. My prayer is that as the Lord leads me to write, those who leave my blog will have one take home message to carry with them for God’s Glory.

I must admit, I have never been a real fan of winter. But your poem makes it sound so lovely….I really should stop and try to savor these days of ice, and cold and quiet a bit more!

I am madly in love with winter! I love living almost in black and white. Everything is so crisp! Of course right now the air hurts my face here in Michigan, but still it is so lovely. We had a thaw this week so much of the blanket has receded. I’m looking forward to its return.
I agree with you about keeping God in the center of it all. So vital!
