HodgePodge Wednesday: Childhood Music and Chevron patterns

August 14, 2013 By Mary Hill 7 Comments

1. What’s something you’ve ‘mastered’ in recent weeks or months?  Still working on mastering blogging, but I have learned to paste and fix some HTML code.

2. What song most reminds you of your childhood? Any from this list reminds me of my graduation year from high school.

These were the Christian songs I loved from my early teens to adulthood.

3. What do you think about single gender groups and/or events? Should everygroup/event be open to both genders? If not, what sort of exceptions do you think are appropriate?  I love single gender blogging conferences such as Allume and also Blogher.  I think the guys need their special groups and events too. The only thing I object too is prejudice based on gender and gender inequality.

4. What’s your favorite spice? Your favorite dish containing your favorite spice? I love cinnamon. I love cinnamon buns, oatmeal.

5. I saw this question on Marla’s facebook page and asked if I could steal borrow it for the Hodgepodge…thanks Marla!

Chevron patterns are everywhere! Do you like it or think its just a little too much? Do you own anything ‘chevron’?  Not sure. I have noticed them but I don’t think it is too much because i don’t know enough about Chevron patterns.

6. What’s something you disliked as a child, but can fully appreciate now?  I disliked having to pick up my room, go to school. The normal childhood dislikes. I think as we grow, we learn and see the importance in things that we disliked as children.

7. What can irritate you very quickly?  My daughter not listening to me. Talking to customer service for Charter and health insurance companies, nuf said.

8. Insert your own random thought here.  I really loved my earlier Wednesday post.  Hope you will take time to read it too:

I have noticed Chevron everywhere. Looks cute on the younger crowd I think, but not necessarily for me…Good for you with your html codes. That stuff is confusing!

I haven’t played hodgepodge in months! Shame on me, I know. I really, really need to jump back on Joyce’s weekly bandwagon. I agree with you on continuing to master tie-bits about blogging, mostly anything to do with HTML coding. I would love to learn more & how to incorporate the appropriate code changes right off the top of my hat, instead of having to ask Google how to do certain things. I’m learning & applying, but not doing enough of it to make it stick for long.

I graduated in 1980, too. Chevron pattern…what’s that? I’m totally clueless here. I will definitely have to ask Google about this now. Ok…just checked out Chevron…the only thing I can remotely think of using this kind of pattern for is in my hand-stamped cards and even then the occasion to work with these designs would be extremely limited. What irritates me quickly is when one of my grown children complain about something from their childhood. All I want to say is get over it, move on. You had it way too good and you just can’t see it because… You get where I’m coming from, I’m sure.

Great to visit with you and thanks for linking up to my no-rule Thursday Thoughts party!

I used to love those songs by Kate Bush, Til Tuesday and Madonna. I graduated in 1982 so these were after high school for me. Fun trip down memory lane.

What fun questions, and answers. I swear you’ve revamped your blog since I was here last, and I LOVE it.

I had never heard of gender specific conferences. Now I’m going to have to check those out! (Thanks for the heads up.)

I already read and commented on that post. I also noticed I misspelled tuckered out. Bugger.

    Have a terrific day. ☺

First of all-I love the way my cursor turns into a little pink flower here : ) Also, that Andre Crouch song is one of my very favorites! Haven’t heard it in a long time. So beautiful!
