God’s Truth : “I’m Already Amazing”

March 1, 2016 By Mary Hill 10 Comments

Introduction: Holly Gerth’s latest companion book and life guide helps me believe God’s Truth in my Life: “I’m Already Amazing.” I received a copy of this guide from Holly’s publicity team in exchange for my honest review which follows.

Holly Gerth's You're Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide

Believing God’s Truth in My Life:

“I’m Already Amazing.”

I reflect on a life spent and years gone.  Sometimes, I have mini-films running through my minds. These are not positive memories. These regrets haunt me and make me wish I could back and undo decisions, take different roads, treat that person differently, be more forceful about that situation.

The mental regret lists goes on and on. They rob me of my joy. They rob me in my walk with Christ.

I have other mental messages looping through my head along with these regret scenes. I am never going to be good enough. I am always going to fall and fail. God will never use an almost-50-year-old woman. My prime is past. Look at all the women who have launched writing careers now in their 30s. Who wants to hear from me? What use am I now compared to these other writers?

I struggled with issues of self-worth my whole life.  As a teen, I felt alone in a crowd.  Other teens mercilessly bullied me and taunted me with messages of not being good enough, ugly, and weird. In college, I just couldn’t seem to find my niche. I made friends, but only have one woman from that era to call a true friend.

“What is wrong with me? Why can’t I fit in?” These questions invade my mind like a worm eating away at my core.

Then along comes a book that challenges these lies the devil has fed me: You’re Already Amazing: Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You to Be  by Holly Gerth.

A few weeks ago, I signed up for Holly’s launch team for her LifeGrowth Guide companion to her bestselling book,  You’re Already Amazing.   I received my review copy about two weeks ago. I also bought the actual book because I had not had a chance to read it yet.

I didn’t know what to expect. I had heard about the best-selling book and always wanted to read it. I opened the first pages of the guide and found hope and God’s truth:

“It is never God’s intention for us to go through life with our heads hanging down in insecurity and hearts made heavy by fear we’re not enough ….  The he responds, ‘Stand tall, my daughter. You are loved. You are of great worth.”

I also found tools to help me overcome the years of regrets, self-doubts, and lies that Satan has fed me. First, I learned valuable truths to cling to, no matter how I feel or lies I believed in the past.

Did God really say I am okay? Yes … In fact Holly points out that God really did say I can do all things through Christ. She also points out that:

[tweetthis twitter_handles=”@MaryHill16″]God loves me with an everlasting love and the biggest truth: “I am fearfully & wonderfully made.” [/tweetthis] Psalm 139:14

You see as Holly points out, I am on this truly “Amazing Journey with Jesus.” He is not through with me yet. I have things He wants me to accomplish for the Kingdom; things that he picked out especially for me to do.

She doesn’t leave me with a pep talk, however. Her guide helps me produce a life-plan, called ‘The Do What You Can Plan.’  Freedom exists in this plan because guess what? I don’t have to go big. I can go small and create incremental steps to discovering God’s purpose for my life because as she writes in her guide:

“It’s not about the size of our faith or the strength of our efforts. It’s about who we’re placing our faith in and what HE CAN DO.“

I am excited about this study. In fact, I plan to go through it with my own daughter. She needs this message of God’s Truth now; so, she can grab on to it and enact it in her own life before Satan can worm His way in with lies that she is not worthy and will never be able to do anything for God.

I can’t wait for us to work together on our own, affirming “LIFE Statements.”  For Holly, “LIFE stands for ‘Love Is Faith Expressed.”

I highly recommend this guide to all women no matter where your are at in life. Are you in women’s ministry in your church? I urge you to create a class around this guide. If you are not in ministry, gather some friends around coffee and desserts and create your own book club.

The book and this accompanying guide has the power to change women’s lives everywhere. Plus, Holly has also produced a DVD based on the guide with even more encouraging messages.

The guide and DVD empower women to “take ownership of their lives” and live proactively believing fully in Ephesians 2:10.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
