Five Minute Friday: Finishing a Chapter

July 25, 2014 By Mary Hill 4 Comments

By Mary Hill

If you have followed my blog, you know I love the Five Minute Friday blog party that is hosted by LisaJo Baker. It is a lovefest of women coming together to share their hearts on a one word prompt that LisaJo provides at the stroke of midnight every Friday morn.

This week our word came with news of a finishing of a chapter in LisaJo’s life. She is passing the baton to another to carry on the Five Minute Friday tradition: Kate Motaung. I am so thankful that she found another woman who is willing to take on this awesome blog party of love. She will take over on August 8th in two weeks.

For now though, I will link up my Five Minute Friday post over at LisaJo’s site. This week’s word is “finish.”

12:15

I have finished so many chapters in my life. With one finished, I opened another. I have wondered through the eaves hoping for direction at times not knowing which page to turn.

I have turned the pages to the wrong chapters on several occasions, but God used His magic eraser to help my find my way again. He is so wonderful and loving. He is still writing my story. He is still guiding me and directing me.

I don’t have any chapters finishing at the moment. My life is not in a lull as I go day to day in my retirement state. I do have a hearing in October that could present a new chapter, but I turn that over to God and ask my friends to be in prayer for me.

My most recent turn of the page involved early retirement due to my disability with arthritis. I began blogging more than a year ago as a means to cope and at the recommendation of my counselor.

Now, I just plow forward, knowing God has me in His hands. His pen is flourishing as He writes another page that builds yet another chapter in my life. He tells me to be careful for nothing but that in everything I should give thanks to Him. I should thank Him for the dark chapters that ended in tragedy and the light ones that ended in love. He balances my life and holds me close. My prayer is that I finish well with Him.

This was a great post on finish! I’ve finished a few chapters too, but God continues to write the story. I will pray about your hearing. Stay encouraged.

I am in the middle of what could be a devastating journey, but I know He is there.
Thank you for blessing me today.

This is beautiful. You are so right that we are always in the middle of a story with an Author. How encouraging is that?! I also share at the Essential Things Link Up. What fun! It’s so nice to “meet you”. 😉
