Five Minute Friday: An Unlikely Messenger

June 13, 2014 By Mary Hill 9 Comments

By Mary Hill

We have those moments of wonder don’t we. Wondering why we are here?  Wondering what is next? Wondering why we have been cursed/gifted with afflictions, loved ones, our lives.  Sometimes we need a messenger to make it all clear. We look out into the night at the stars hoping one will come, and we pray for the message that will give our lives meaning.

Sometimes we overlook our messengers. Like an insistent cat who walks around the house meowing at 3:55 in the morning. What does he want?  I can not understand his meowing need this morning. He just needs love, I guess. Why does a cat need love when I need to sleep?

Messengers can bring hope, bad news, and a mixed bag of life notes. Sometimes though they bring simple reminders that life can be fun and full of joy.

This brief message of meandering is brought to you as part of Lisa Jo Baker’s Five Minute Friday.

Mary thanks for coming over to Working Christian Mommy to link up last week ! Yes, the messengers the Lord sends us are so unlikely and can be so easy to miss. God bless you on your way today !

So many days depression and anxiety or PTSD in general will keep me locked away in my room but my pets they still need me, they still love unconditionally and remind me that Jesus love is unconditional to! I can be angry and yell at them (which i try not to do but sometimes i explode) and when I call their names they come and put their heads in my lap and look at me as if to say “it is okay, I love you, God loves you. Now please get up so I can go out” LOL I love the direction you took with this prompt it is oh so true and so very sweet, and your kitty is adorable 🙂

I know it’s so easy to miss a message if we’re not looking for God to speak. Glad to find you through FMF today

Your kitty is adorable, but oh no…3:55! You are so right about sometimes overlooking our messengers, but this one would be hard to ignor with a back scratcher in her paws. 🙂 Enjoyed the post. You can connect with me on Networked Blogs…I am following you.

so sweet…hopping over from lisa jo’s link up. I have our cat with me right now too! Callie used to wake me often with meows for attention…now she sits quietly with me…also wanting to be loved! She’s 15 years old…calico…now on thyroid medication twice daily…that has helped her with the “meowy-ness”…sleeping better now for all…except…I still wake at odd hours…blog time! 🙂 Messengers are indeed unlikely…Jesus was an unlikely Savior too…different than the people of the time expected…but he came with love!
