Finding Truth that Sets You Free

October 8, 2017 By Mary Hill 1 Comment

Psalm 25:5

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me:
for thou art the God of my salvation;
on thee do I wait all the day.

I ponder what is “truth”  as I face problems in my family.

Sometimes, we hear things differently from other people or we interpret what others say in ways they do not intend.  Keeping this truth in mind, I try to guard what I say when reacting to others. I am not always successful because I leap before I examine their messages with more intent. When someone says something in anger sometimes the truth is hard to interpret. Did they spew their thoughts without fully weighing the reactions of others? Did they really mean what they said or did anger take over their tongues? I faced this recently in my own life when I jumped and took the words of a family member and reaction as true intent instead of realizing anger had taken control in the situation.

Right now, I am praying this scripture over my family situation.

Zechariah 8:16

These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace.

Now hurt hunts me and my family in a terrible situation. Until this situation is resolved, I cling tight to the scripture above that I used in introduction. I find hope in the fact that God’s Word is not hard to interpret. His truth is straightforward and easy to understand.

He never speaks without thought. He never lets anger control His tongue as we do. This scripture is so true:

Psalms 119:160

“Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”

I also love these scriptures regarding truth:

Psalm 43:3

Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!

Psalm 86:11

Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.

What scriptures do you love that speak to truth? Please share and if you have any prayer request indicate in the comments below.

Thank you as always for your support.

So glad you can lean on God and His word through the hard times. Saying a prayer for you and your family, Mary. May God give wisdom, strength and comfort.

    Blessings and hugs! xoxo
