Finding Rest in Him

October 11, 2015 By Mary Hill 10 Comments

Jeremiah 31:25 – For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

I worked into the night, fretting and worrying about everything.  How were we going to make it through the week? How were we going to buy groceries? How were we going to pay bills?  How? How? How?

My mind swirled around the questions. How would I write? How would I make deadlines? How would my daughter do in school? How would my husband do this week? He seems so tired.

Life can seem so overwhelming when you are tired. You worry and you give into fright.

But God wants you to breathe in the night. He wants you stop asking questions. He wants you to find His perfect peace and rest.

Continuing to write for 31 Days, an online writing challenge started by home blogger, Myquillyn Smith (The Nester), and now hosted by Crystal Stine, where bloggers pick one topic and write a post on that topic every day in October. I am also joining my friend Kate Motaung and my friends from the Five Minute Friday community during this challenge. Kate worked with community bloggers to develop the 2015 edition of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes, a writing link-up in conjunction with the annual Write 31 Days Challenge.  For the five minute, free write sessions, Kate encouraged bloggers to submit ideas for one-word prompts for each day of the challenge. Today’s word: “Rest.”

Love that we can find true rest in God. I love the verses about going to God- all who are weak and weary.

Our souls and bodies need the complete rest that comes from above. Such an important reminder when the trails are raging.
