Psalm 62:5-6
My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
Psalm 37:7
Be silent in the LORD’s presence and wait patiently for him.
Lamentations 3:25-26
The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the person who searches for him.
It is good to hope and wait patiently for the LORD’s salvation.
When I need a word of encouragement and real connection with God;
I know the magic of silence.
It is in the silence of the day or in the sweet beauty of the night where I draw closest to my Lord.
The wind whispers in a quiet field.
The waiting and silence in these times bring me joy and thanksgiving.
I feel His Spirit whispering in my ears.
Every limb, every fiber fills with hope.
He never fails to come to me.
He never fails to show me His beauty and love.
That is why I love the song, In The Garden. In my post about gratitude for inspirational songs I shared why music speaks to me. Music forces one to be silent to listen to lyrics about God.
I especially love In the Garden because it captures the beauty of silent time with God.
I love the beauty of music but …
My soul knows Him so intimately in these times of total silence.
I write this post for the Five Minute Friday Community linkup where today’s prompt is Silence.
This post continues also my special series celebrating gratitude. As we approach the Holy Season of Advent, first I fix my mind on thankfulness. Thankfulness is a state of being. It is part of the cross that we deliberately choose to pick up each day as we follow Christ. To celebrate Thankfulness, I have created a Fall Bible study and journey that I invite you to join with me.
As I write this series, I am also joining Jennifer Dukes Lee’s 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge. Her beautiful graphic below lists 30 daily gratitude topics on which I will try to base each day’s post this month. Note that some days I may switch up the topic if I feel in my spirit a need to do so.
Even though the posts will be short, I plan to pack them with inspiration and Scriptural truths as we lead up to the Thanksgiving holidays and then flow into Christmas. This series is my gift to you.

I love this. It captures so much why I love the prairies of ND! It is there that I feel God must fully!
My mom’s favorite hymn. Thanks for the memory! xo
You welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
I sing along….nice hymn to sing. 🙂 “and he walks me and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own”… lovely words to remember. 🙂
Hello Mary,
We are neighbors again. Good thoughts on silence and your gratitude project looks relate fun. What book were you grateful for yesterday?
I am working on that post for Monday. I thought it would fit great with Literacy Musing Mondays.
