Finding Faith in Togetherness on a Quiet Friday

October 25, 2013 By Mary Hill 12 Comments

Five Minute Friday

Its Friday and time for a five minute writing spree as part of  Lisa Jo Baker’s weekly writing gathering of women known as Five Minute Friday. She gives us a word, and we write for five minutes without backtracking or correcting. Then we link up at her site and read the posts of the women before us and after us. It is a time of fellowship and love. You should try it.

10:10 a.m.

Together

I sit alone today, not together. I know I am supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy when I see the word together. But today it makes me feel lonely.  I wish I had everything together. I wish life was simple and always easy, but it isn’t.

Together, I am alone. Together, I am with Him. Together, I have my husband and children.  Families are a thing of togetherness.

I hear the chimes outside my window and hear birds singing in the trees, and I feel a pull toward a something.  I am alone at home and tired.  Maybe, together, will come later today. I know God will provide. Together with Him all things are possible.

Holidays and Inspiration

Before we get into the craziness of the holidays, we need to take time to focus on Him and His love.  I love the holidays of winter as the air turns crisp and the leaves die away and quietness settles the land. We come together as famlies to celebrate His life and our lives in Him.

Random 5 Friday
Keeping it Real this Week
Sometimes life can stink and deal blows that stun you. Well, I am going to get back up.

1.  I enjoyed my week, but I had a setback on Wednesday that left me floundering? Do you ever have those?  I have yet to recover.  Now I am wondering how and why?
2.  I am still recovering from infections two week after surgery too.
3.  I didn’t get to go to my dream conference.
4.  I can’t seem to catch up house work, homework, life work.
5.  Okay, pity party over.  Time to regroup for the weekend and “think myself happy.” (Acts 26:2)I know what Paul meant. At least, I am not in prison because of my beliefs and for standing for God. I just had a little setback and life goes on. God will provide all my need according to His riches in Glory.

(Play Now as you read for a real Blessing! Scroll when the singing starts. Take your time, scroll slowly. ๐Ÿ™‚)

How can I begin to complain in the face of all God’s beauty?

 He made this:

Okay, from far away, it looks kind of boring but wait:

Take a closer view and find beauty.

Even closer ……
Until …….

Matthew 6: 26-30

26″Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Wonderful post and inspiring words to ponder. – Yes I’ve had those set-back days and really I need to focus more on what God does give to me and less on the “pity-party” moments. Thanks for reminding me of that. – I loved your beauty shot and how you showed it from far away and then showed how if we look more closely we can find beauty in even the simple things of life.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I have been having a bit of tough time lately too…and the truth of the matter, a lot of it is that I cannot seem to think positive. I know I have to work at getting that right frame of mind, but sometimes it is hard.

I know how hard it can be. I have so been there. I will pray for your circumstances. Remember, Jesu died for your tough times. He saw you through time and knew your needs. I lift you up to Him and pray for you. His love is so real and so deep.

    Hi Mary!

Thanks for stopping by the blog and for your sweet comment! It’s always great to find women that love the Lord! I’m so grateful that the Lord has blessed us in order for me to stay home with our girls (we have 2 now! Our youngest was born in April and we finalized her adoption in August!)…I couldn’t ask for a better “job”!

I look forward to getting to know you!

    Christie

    P.S.
I guess we can be friends, even though you’re a USC graduate (I’m a Clemson fan!) — ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry about the infection but I’m glad you still look on the bright side of things Together is something we aren’t at one time or the other. And yes at least our belief hasn’t gotten us locked up. Thank goodness. Enjoy your weekend Mary.

Love that passage in Matthew six about God’s provision. And how you saw the beauty in that landscape even from a distance. That’s what we have to do when we feel alone. Keep zooming in until we see the truth, which is that God is always with us. And, as you have demonstrated through words and pictures, “Together with Him all things are possible.” Blessings!
