It seems my life has been the proverbial roller coaster this weekend. I have dealt with loss, sadness, blessings, and happiness.
First, I went to a funeral for a friend who died from a rare eye cancer this week. Her spirit is still with us. Her legacy so deep and rich. She left a husband and four children, but she always had a smile on her face and incredible spirit.
I hate cancer, but I loved her and still love her beautiful family. She left four children under the age of 12. The memorial service turned into a celebration of her life and spirit.
During the service, her husband read from verses that she had marked in her Bible. The one verse that I loved and felt really represented her was:
3 John 1 [4] I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Next, I was accepted into the major blogging #WomensLives initiative — a media partnership between PRI and SheKnows Media (BlogHer’s parent company.) I am helping to promote the initiative which is aimed at telling stories of women and girls changing their worlds and ours. I know I will enjoy tweeting and blogging about this initiative and the issues facing all women’s lives.
Also this week, we completed the bathroom renovations. In the scheme of things a bathroom renovations seems so little, but the new bathroom is blessing our family. Our old bathroom had the original bathtub, sink, and toilet from 1961! It was time for change. Here are just a few of the pictures.
Also, you will want to check back on these posts: Guest Post by author John Davidson and and Great Giveaway: Dynapro Exercise Ball. The first post, which went live this morning, features a giveaway of a $20 I Tunes card. The second is self explanatory, but you will not see it until Monday morning so check back then.
Also don’t forget that this week’s Literacy Musing Mondays is live tonight too. We are growing every week! I am so thankful to all the bloggers that keep coming back and participating and/or reading the posts linked up. This linkup has some great book reviews, discussions, and literacy actitivity posts. Check back and read them. I hope you will consider adding your literacy-related posts too.
I know this post has been all over the place, but that is my life lately. I just hope that you will remember my friend, Laura. She was a beautiful lady, full of love, hope, and faith. I hope you all will pray for her family this week.
I love this song because it sums up her life so beautifully. She was indeed a beautiful, wonderful mom, wife, and Church leader. I wish I had more opportunities to know her better and had more time with her. One day, though, I know she will greet me in heaven. I will have to stand in line for a hug, though. Her memory will always be cherished by our church and community.
We have all known someone like her. We all have people we miss. We cling to the hope that all though they have gone on, we will see them again.

Clicked on the Blitz link in my email and found myself here at your lovely little corner of the web 🙂
So sorry for the loss of your friend. I whispered a prayer for her family, her precious children, I cannot imagine.
I’m looking forward to exploring . . . I pray your day is beautiful and blessed!
Oh, the bathroom is lovely, by the way!
Thank you for contributing to Motivation Monday!
Losing a loved one is always difficult. It seems so pointless to say “I am sorry” but in fact, I am sorry for all of the people Laura left behind to live on without her. It sounds as though you all have a good faith to help you through the difficult times and to find the good that she brought to the world.
On a lighter note, bathroom renovations are always a good thing!

Thanks Pattie. I worried about writing about these things in on list. The 10 Things Thankful hop is designed so that we can reflect on the happenings in our lives. The bathroom could not compare with Laura, but I wanted to report on all God’s blessings for the week despite the loss we suffered. The bathroom repairs were already in progress. Laura was a wonderful woman. I am praying for her children. I hope you will keep them in your prayers too. Thanks.
I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend, I pray that you and her family will find comfort in the fact that you will all meet again. Praying that God will bless her husband and children and find comfort in His arms. Thanks for sharing your heart with us at Good Morning Mondays. Blessings

So sorry to hear of your loss, Mary. Thoughts and prayers to you during this sad time.
I do love your bathroom – the shower curtain is so cool! Beautiful colors and such a great design I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like that.
Have a great week!
I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It is definitely a hard thing to go through. Almost everybody that was close to me and has passed on has been because of cancer. I like your new bathroom, especially the curtains!!
My prayers for your friend…..

I understand about the bathroom thing. When I changed the toilet this summer, I felt so proud and even took picture of it.
Last week my teen daughter decided to change the bathroom set in 2 baths (curtain and mats). I loved the change.
Sorry about your friend. Cancer sucks.
I wil have to do a Wordless Wednesday of before and after. 🙂

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your friend and her family. What a terrible loss. I will most certainly be praying for them and you.
A new bathroom is certainly a blessing. We had to redo all of our bathrooms in this house, seeing as how there wasn’t a single shower for us to use. Yours looks so pretty!

I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. It’s doubly hard when she was a young mother with so much ahead of her.
Your bathroom remodel is lovely, but where are the “before” pictures? I have a bathroom that was built in the late 50s and still has the original tile EVERYWHERE.
