Embrace and Pray for the People
of South Carolina and Oregon tonight!
I watched news all day as a major storm inundated my state. Across the nation, a community is reeling from a man-made tragedy, another mass shooting.
We have had deaths in our state as people drown in flood waters in the Midlands to Coastal South Carolina. More record rain fall is hammering the area.

I praise God, however, that my family and community in Upstate South Carolina is safe. We have more rain on the way tonight, but forecasters said the rain tonight will not be on the scale that my neighbors to the south received.
My best friend from college, Kelly’s neighborhood is in the flooding. She snapped this picture on her cell phone down the road from her home. She is okay, but flood waters are threatening her home. Her county of Georgetown is underwater. The town is shut down. All major highways leading to the town are shut down. As you can see, flood waters rip the very ground and roads away. The flood waters breach dams and cover bridges.

Massive flooding on a scale never seen in our state is threatening the lives of our neighbors. Pray for their safety tonight!

Mashable covered the flooding and took this picture. Read the story here.
Can we embrace those who are suffering tonight. Embrace them in God’s word and prayer? Embrace the families in Oregon whose loves ones are not returning because of the evil in today’s world.
Please pray for the South Carolinians who are losing homes; whose lives are being washed away by rising flood waters. I pray for the mothers and fathers who are sitting in shelters tonight. Give them peace, Lord. Embrace them with your love that passeth all understanding.
I pray for the mothers crying over children lost to a madman in another tragic national shooting. I pray for their families. I lift them up to you tonight.

Continuing to write for 31 Days, an online writing challenge started by home blogger, Myquillyn Smith (The Nester), and now hosted by Crystal Stine, where bloggers pick one topic and write a post on that topic every day in October. I am also joining my friend Kate Motaung and my friends from the Five Minute Friday community during this challenge. Kate worked with community bloggers to develop the 2015 edition of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes, Readers’ Choice Awards, a writing link-up in conjunction with the annual Write 31 Days Challenge. For the five minute, free write sessions, Kate encouraged bloggers to submit ideas for one-word prompts for each day of the challenge. Today’s word: “Embrace.”

I will keep them in my prayers. Hope the rain doesn’t cause too much of destruction.

I will pray for all the affected people in Oregon shootout and the massive floods in South Carolina.
Thank you. I know a lot of people in Columbia from grad school days. I lived there for eight plus years. I just heard a lot of people in the area did not have flood insurance because it has never flooded in their neighborhoods. The chance of flooding was minuscule.

I’m praying for the unfortunate people all over the world, and especially for those who are flooded near you. The storm is headed for us in England now, and I hope the devastation won’t be too bad.
Francene, I will pray for your country. This storm at one point obtained Category 5 status. The hurricane itself never hit us. We had a weather pattern that just pulled the rain off the storm. Thank God the hurricane stayed out to sea. Our state is devastated by the flooding. We would have lost even more property and even more lives if the actual hurricane hit.

Joining with you in prayer tonight. I cannot imagine what they are all feeling as everything they hold valuable is being flooded and washed away. Glad to hear your family is safe.
Praying with you tonight!
