E is for Easter and all that Love Endured for Me

Lent & Easter 2014 | St. John's York Mills Anglican Church Lent & Easter 2014 | St.

In almost two weeks, we will celebrate the holy holiday of Easter.

Easter is the true story of what Love Endured for you and me on the cross.  It didn’t end when Jesus died on the cross. It continued three more days when Jesus was taken from the cross with his mother, Mary, and beloved disciple John watching. A rich man, Joseph of Arimathaea, took his body and lain it in his own grave. Jesus remained in the grave three days until Sunday when he arose again.

The disciples had scattered and seemed to forget Jesus’s prophesy that on the third day he would rise again from the dead. His resurrection marked the beginning of Christianity as he walked with his disciples for 40 more days, instructing them on their task that lay ahead: the Great Commission. He then was transformed and rose into the sky to join His Father God in Heaven.

In a small way, I am caring on the tradition of the Great Commission with this blogging challenge. You find this Great Commission in the following versus:

Matthew 28: 18-2019 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Mark 16:15 – And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

I love the Easter holiday and the Easter bunny and the eggs and fun.  But in the merriment, please consider that there is more to Easter. It is a Holy story of love’s great sacrifice.

This is my “E” installment for the 2014 A to Z April Blogging Challenge.

You have such an inspiring theme Mary. This Easter post is one of them that reminds me that the Holy Week is near and I love forward to that.

I know some Christians have started calling it “Resurrection Sunday”, but it will always be Easter to me.

You said it best…we love the eggs and candy, but it’s the celebration of our Redeemer’s ultimate sacrifice and victory. Great post.

I studied in a school run by christian missionaries. Easter and other festivals were celebrated in both school and with my catholic friends.
