31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes Day 15: Open My Heart, Lord

October 15, 2019 By Mary Hill 1 Comment

Psalm 51:15

O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.

We open so many things in our lifetime.

We open doors; we open bottles; we open windows; we open our hearts; we open our minds,

Every morning we open our eyes.

What does it mean to open?
It means to move or push something to a position to allow access or free entry.
When I close up, the Holy Spirit cannot enter or influence my life.
God is unable to change me without repositioning me.
I limit His influence because I become closed-minded and stubborn.
I shut out the truth.
I long to remain open to the Holy Spirit.
To feel His love and comfort enveloping me.
Only when I allow Him in and open myself up to Him can I find pure joy.

I fail so many times to acknowledge the need to remain agape and barred to Him.

When I open myself up, I feel vulnerable to failure.

I know I cannot sustain this openness.

I close up and wall up because I let God down every day.

I even fail to love Him with all my heart.  I fail to spend time with Him. I fail to seek Him.

Failure greets me in the morning.

It is a struggle of flesh and spirit.

My spirit is willing, but my flesh weak.

Faith and love need to indwell my heart daily.

It starts once again with prayer and drawing close to Him.

Taking up my cross and following Him daily.

How do you remain open to the Holy Trinity? How do you allow them to enter into your soul and heart?

I love the clarity you give to the many ways we can be open. First to open up my heart to the holy spirit and ask him to lead my in his way and is what honors him. Open to love and that opens to possible criticism. I can’t articulate as well as you did, but in reading your words, I know for anything new to happen in my life I can’t close down, I have to open up.
