Day 12: Ten Things of Thankful, Sunday Worship

October 13, 2014 By Mary Hill 9 Comments

What a blessed weekend that I have had. The days were crisp and so clear. The humidity down and as a consequence, I felt almost human. If you suffer with arthritis the way I do, I am sure you can relate.

My family headed out after my husband got home for work. My husband is the reason I get to go anywhere to enjoy life. I couldn’t do it on my own. He makes sure that I am comfortable, makes trips easy for me, and is patient if I have to stop and rest for awhile.

So, we head to another of our favorite Upstate South Carolina towns, Anderson.  Our destination involved barbecue and balloons. Here are some very thankful pictures that I was blessed to take.

A nice lady took this one for me at the festival. It is a family picture of Ricky, Katie Rose, and myself. I think I will frame this one. 🙂

You will have to come back for Wordless Wednesday for a special look at other pictures from Saturday.

The wonderful weekend, however, did not stop with just the hot air balloon festival and the delicious barbecue. We also had Pastor Appreciation Day for my husband’s son and wife. He has lead our beautiful church since 2009. When he started as a part-time, bi-vocational pastor, he had nine original members. Today, the church was packed with close to 300 members and visitors!

The church service was moving and unforgettable as church members lined up to testify about the awesome move of God that my stepson was so inspirational in leading.

Of course the wonderful music brought down God’s spirit and the altars filled up again. I wish I had great pictures or video, but I forgot to put my battery back into the camera this morning. I charged it Saturday  night.

I also wrote during this service too. God gave me this poem, I hope you enjoy.

A Pastor’s Call

Is to Feed His Sheep

Pray for His flock
Until the Great Shepherd’s Return.

Bear burdens
Dedicate new born babes
Lay hands on the sick.
Counsel the lost
Preach the Gospel.
Baptize the new born Saints.
Sit by bedsides of the sick.
Hold the hands of loved ones and pray
Say goodbye to the faithful saints.

Such a calling is given only to a few.
We are blessed
That you answered that call.

Our choir sung this song: Thank God For The Preacher. I found a version of the same song online. I hope you enjoy.

How did God bless you this weekend? I hope you will share in the comments.

I don’t like “pig” but the chicken was divine. My husband had pork and his smelled wonderful. I tried it. It was delicious. This place in Anderson is worth the visit if you’re ever in Upstate South Carolina.

My husband always says the best barbecue places have a pig on the sign. That picture looks like he’s right!

Those hot air balloons look beautiful in the dusk! I love the idea of going up in one, but I’m not sure I have the nerve. Glad you had a good weekend with your family!

Thank God for the Preacher is a touching song. We need more people willing to help the sinful and destitute. Not everyone can overcome their trials with almost no help. So sweet that your stepson was honored and what he has accomplished. The picture of the food has made me hungry. I’m glad your husband is taking great care of you Mary. Applause for the hubs! And the balloon picture with you guys is just too cute. Frame it!
