2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
The theme in my life this week focuses on comfort. Two weeks flew by since my mother’s surgery. She stayed with my brother to be nearer her doctors.
My husband’s surgery went as scheduled last Friday (September 14). His pain cuts through him like a sharp knife. He winces as he walks down the hall.
I wish I could provide comfort to him. I pray for him daily since he has been home. He hoped that his pain would be more manageable and that he could return to part-time work this week, but it has kept him home juxtaposed between laying in bed watching old movies on his laptop and the back porch sitting watching the birds in the yard.
I walk up behind him. “Sweet heart, are you okay.”
He answers with a groan, but I kiss his forehead. “Don’t worry things will be better soon,” I attempt to comfort him. Patience though is not easy as we await his recovery.
I take comfort in the fact that my mother has improved. She still has to remain in Greenville for therapy and to see doctors the rest of the month. Hopefully, she can return in early October to her home and room filled with comfortable creations of quilts and blankets.
