God Made Light
I have this book, God Made Light by Matthew Paul Turner, sitting in my closet, figuratively burning a hole in the walls. Light wants to cascade out of it. I want to pop open the pages and share it with my granddaughter today! I have to wait, however, until her birthday party in mid December. Just three weeks away, but not close enough. I am so tempted to just buy her another present and give this one to her tomorrow. I am that much in love with this gem of a book.
The art work and the poetry are so sweet. The images dance of the page joyfully. This book is a not miss.
Light is such a great creation and God’s first. On the first day, God made light.
Genesis 1 3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and He called the darkness “night.” Evening came and then morning: the first day.
This book brings that holy moment to life and makes it so personal for children.
I love how the author relates how God’s created light shines in us and our children.
The book also goes further and shows adults and children alike how we can enjoy the creation of light during the day or night:

Then the author shows how light is really personal and draws the child into the story:
I know this picture book is going to be a favorite with my grandchildren. I will share their reaction to the book after the birthday party in December.
In the meantime, I highly recommend this book for children from 0 to 100. It will make a wonderful Christmas present! I enjoyed it so much and can’t wait to share it on my granddaughter’s birthday.

This book sounds very familiar. I think I’ve read it before or been in a space in which it was read. Either way, I adore the concept and love exposing young children to spirituality in a way that is comfortable for them.
