I strive for consistent faith and love in all that I do, for Christ and towards others. Remaining consistent in my strength, however, can become a legalistic trap. One of my favorite verses that I make my mantra is:
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.
A consistent walk with Christ involves daily searching His word and seeking His will through prayer. Even when I fail at these things, memorized scriptures still rings in my mind throughout the day.
I love what Oswald Chambers shared in a devotional entitled, The Secret of Spiritual Consistency. He shared that if we keep our eyes on the “Cross of Christ,” then we release the energy of God into our lives.
What scriptures have you memorized to help you walk more consistently in your faith?
I found these verses helpful to me in my walk with Christ.
Hebrews 10: 23-25
Let us hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering (for He is faithful who promised), and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as ye see the Day approaching.
Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
John 15:4 ESV
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
James 4:8
“Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
Proverbs 8:34-35
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain the favor of the Lord.
Walking consistently with Christ then involves showing up daily at God’s gates and seeking Him and His love and forgiveness. I visualize the wonderful hymn “In the Garden.” Once again, I love the simple message of this song. All I have to do is show up in His garden. He does the rest.

My husband is teaching a Sunday School class on spiritual disciplines and the importance of them in a Believers life.
With all of the distractions in life, walking consistently with Christ is a discipline and one that reaps many, many blessings.
Thanks for sharing.
