A Father’s Day Literacy Musing Monday
My favorite quote about a father is from To Kill A Mockingbird. Do you remember it?
“He did not do the things our schoolmates fathers did: he never went hunting, he did not play poker or fish or smoke. He sat in the livingroom and read … When he gave us our air-rifles Atticus wouldn’t teach us to shoot … ‘I’d rather you shoot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you’ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ’em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.’” – Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

We are still looking to mini guest posts. Each week we would love to feature one of our faithful participants who would write a short three to four paragraph post. You could write about why you love reading or share a funny snippet about reading. You could write a poem. It can be creative and inspiring, but must be literacy-related. I would feature a great photo of you (that you provide) with links to all your relevant social media.
Interested? Let us know in the comments with your email address. Be sure to format it so bots don’t get it. Like this : marykatbpcsc45 at gmail (dot) com. By the way that is my email address. If you prefer email me your post and information when you are ready. I will contact you with your date for your guest snippet.
Now back to the linkup. What have you read this week? Do you have a fun literacy-related activity to share. Link up with us. 😉

I love that quote from To Kill a Mockingbird. Brilliant choice! My favorite literary father that is coming to mind right now is Father Tim from the Mitford books. I love his later-in-life relationship with Dooley, his very broken and healing boy. Moves me to tears often throughout the series.
I’d enjoy doing a mini-guest post for you. My email is tina at mommynificent dot com.
Thanks for being a part of Booknificent Thursday this week.

I love Atticus Finch! This is one of the greatest books I’ve ever read. So apt to feature this on Father’s Day.

Hi Mary,
I wanted to let you know I just read your post from today – Finding Freedom from Mistakes -and I loved it! For some reason, I can’t find the link to make comments on it, though! Confronting our mistakes, forgiving, and apologizing for them is so necessary to move forward. So often, our instincts are to avoid. Ugh! I dreaded confrontation as a young girl and it took me well into my adult life to become strong enough to do it when I know it is needed! Beautifully written! Thank you!
Thanks, too, for the link-up!
Blessings and smiles,
Lori
