Crave is the word prompt at this week’s Five Minute Friday linkup at Kate Motaung. She is such a great supporter of our weekly linkup. I felt I would highlight her challenge this week and write on the word: crave.
What do you crave this Christmas Holy Season? I crave visiting a simple time when a star shone brightly over a quiet stable more than 2000 years ago.
I crave drawing closer to the babe in the manger who became our sacrifice 33 years later on a cross on Calvary.
We can not visit Christmas without visiting the cross. We know, however, this is not the end of this Holy story.
Through centuries, more chapters were written on the hearts of millions who craved a closer walk with God.
I crave love, salvation, and a deeper walk.
As a woman, I also crave earthly connections: love of family and trusted friends.
I long and desire for my husband loving glances; my daughter’s sweet laughter, and my grands beautiful grins.
We wrap our lives up in fancy packages hoping that the shine will distract from our worries and fears.
But we do not need to do this if we turn our eyes up and look back in time. That little baby born in the lowliest and humblest ways is our key to true happiness and peace that passeth all understanding. When the darkest nights of our lives come, His beautiful star shines as a beacon of true hope and love.
I hope you will visit Kate’s blog to learn more about the vibrant FMF writing community and why the word “crave” means so much to her this week. She has a special announcement this week that you do not want to miss!

Though he doesn’t say it in exactly those words, Paul Tripp says we all crave to be part of something bigger than ourselves. He said that why people become fanatics for some sports team or get involved in some cause. We want our lives to have meaning. I believe that desire was put there by our Creator, though we sometimes try to satisfy it in ways He never intended. Thanks for hosting this week.
