Facing the Blank, White Screen : Blogging Challenge

March 30, 2016 By Mary Hill 18 Comments

blogging blank screen : Blogging Challenge

As I contemplate, joining the A to Z Blogging Challenge, I face a blank screen and no theme, yet.

Staring at a blank, white blog template again. Trying to figure out what to blog about by midnight. April glides in as I ponder joining the A to Z 2016 Blogging Challenge. I have no theme yet. I am praying over one still.

I really need a plan for my blog. I have read all the articles on creating an editorial calendar. I read blogging posts about topics, listicles, and more. But often I just stare at a blank screen.

Easter is gone. The Lord is risen. He shines in my life.

He should be enough to write about, but I want to explore and encourage excitement about knowing and loving Jesus, the Holy Word, and Holy Spirit.

What I learned from the March Slice of Life Challenge this year is sometimes you just have to type or speak your post.  You just write and see what words unfold on the template.

You write without a plan or destination in mind, hoping that you find something others will find interesting or inspiring to read.

I have enjoyed this month-long challenge and for the most part successfully participated, having only missed one day: Easter Sunday.

Resources for Great Prompts to

Avoid the White Screen

During a Blogging Challenge

Now tomorrow is the last day of the March Slice of Life 2016 Challenge, and I am planning for the April challenge: 26 posts A to Z. I will face a blank screen with prayer and Scriptures in hand. I will seek His guidance as I type or voice my thoughts into a blog post.

I hope you will join me as we embark on a new challenge.

Some great resources I hope to continue to use to inspire blog posts include:

Kate Motaung’s Five Minute Friday community. Every Friday she will share a one-minute prompt. I don’t know if every Friday will be an exact match for her prompt.  This Friday, the letter is A; and then the following Friday, G; and the third, M; with the fourth friday letter ending as S; the last Friday will be Y. I hope I can use a thesaurus to find synonyms to her word that match the letter of the day.

Another resource that I will rely on is Holly Mueller’s Spiritual Journey Thursdays. The letters for the Thursdays in April are F, L, R, and X.

My focus shines on writing inspirational and uplifting posts that inspire my readers to seek a spiritual home in Christ, no matter their religion. I want to share Christ with the world and desire others to find Him and His love.

Journeying with Him through blogging presents joys, opportunities for closer connections; and fulfillment that I can’t begin to explain. Join me. Journey with me. Discover spirituality, beauty, and love as we delve down a road of mystery, A to Z. His Holy Spirit directs me and leads me. Where we end up only He knows.

Letter Schedule [2016]

Keith, great article. In fact, I believe the toughest thing for any coach is to keep his or her agenda out of a coaching conversation. (I believe it’s why there are so few excellent coaches.)Of course, it is doubly hard for a manager, who has responsibilities that by definition, extend beyond the best outcome for the individual involved.Your insights are excellent. In order to be an effective manager AND coach, one must clearly understand and appreciate the different roles, and the most appropriate circumstances for each.If someone simply can’t be a manager and a coach – then be a manager… and hire a coach.

I’m genuinely loving your theme/design of your respective website. Do an individual ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A handful of my blog readers get complained about my blog no longer working correctly in Explorer yet looks wonderful in Safari. Do you have any answers to help fix this concern?

Sounds like a strippers name…but I like it! And that woman is so ugly both on the outside and inside. I wonder if they used sperm sorting to get a girl after 2 boys. Just curious.

Hey guys,I notice you have a lot of videos on Webmaster Central. I am hearing-impaired and cannot hear these videos much less lip-read them successfully. Is there any way I can get a transcript for these videos so I follow too? Thanks in advance.Sincerely,Jey Pandian

I like your idea of using Five Minute Friday and other prompts for the AtoZ Challenge. I don’t really have a theme. I had thought about finding unusual animals and writing about them, but I’m still not settled. I found one for the letter A so I may go ahead and use it. Guess I don’t feel quite ready, but I’m going to just have fun with it. Blessings!

Hi, we take Sundays off in April that is why it is only 26 days, A to Z. Each day you base your post on a letter in the alphabet.
