31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes Day 20: Tell Me a Story

October 20, 2019 By Mary Hill Leave a Comment

I wrote the poem based on the word tell in 2017.  I approach writing in a very freestyle way. Often, I start typing and watch as the words scroll across the screen. I am not sure what I will type next, but they seem to come. This poem blessed me a lot that year because it still rings true. Telling the story of Jesus spreads hope to the world and creates change. I hope you enjoy my poem.

We all have a story to tell.  We experience different lives with times of joy and times of confusion and sorrow.

I prayed, “what story do you want me to tell?”

My answer came in waves:

Tell a story of love.

Tell it from the highest mountain to the lowest valley.

When you reflect and tell of His wonders

You testify and point others to the Great Almighty.

How do we tell? What do we say? Who do we tell?

It is Christ’s greatest commandment.

Tell the World His Gospel

Spread His truth to all the lands.

Mark 5:19 Tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

Tell of His great mercies

His great Love

His great sacrifice on the Tree,

His arms spread out

His love bore in each bloody stripe where the whiplashed and bruised.

The crown of thorns forced upon His head.

Tell the great story of God to come down to live among men to die for their sins.

Tell how He did not have to come.

Tell how He could have called 10,000 angels but stayed on the cross

So that I would not have to die in my sins.

Tell How He Died for You and Me.

It is Christ's greatest commandment. Tell the World His Gospel.
