Jane Yolen is one of the most prolific writers of the last and present century. Her work spans decades. (Hope she doesn’t get mad at me. I am not harping on her age.) I admire her greatly; her novels and yes her poetry.
She has written more than 330 novels, children’s books, nonfiction, and 40 poetry books. You can read more about her on her website: http://janeyolen.com/ . Be prepared to spend hours and getting sidetracked. That is why I am putting the final touches on this post around midnight Monday. I had hoped to have it up at 10 a.m. Monday morning, but like I said you can get sidetracked researching information about Jane Yolen!

Z is for Zeugma, which is defined as the use of a word to modify or govern two or more words in such a manner that it applies to each in a different sense or appropriate to only one. Dr. Kip Wheeler has an extensive discussion on zeugmas on his dictionary of poetic and literary terms website.

Jane Yolen is an author to be respected hands down. As for the new word, I wouldn’t know how to use zeugma in a sentence! Learn something every day. Congrats on finishing the a-z challenge!!
