I come from a Southern Christian family that believes in a literal hell and heaven. Although, I do not agree with all the teachings, my deep religious ties shape me. My parents played a huge role in making sure that I knew who Christ was and why we should go to church and learn more about Him. He moves and molds me to pursue His will. My family has shaped me. My love of reading guided me toward ideas and ideals I would never had pursued otherwise. A passion for photography creates a wander lust to find wildlife and beauty. Finally, my love for learning carries me into my future.

The September 3rd writing prompts to choose from are Creature and Wild.
I was hurt and unrepairable
With nowhere to go until
Strangers rescued me and brought me here.
I cannot be returned to the wild
My wings are broken and I am unable to fly
Free and high above in the sky.
I sit here dreaming of a yesterday
When my wings helped me soar
Guided me, catching air and gliding high.
I wish I could escape this enclosure
and fly free, but I know these humans mean well by me.

Curiously my daughter rescued a Red Wattle Bird which is a typical Australian Honeyeater after it had been attacked by crows whilst still in the nest who tore one wing off. Slowly with help it healed and has become tame but it still doesn’t accept it cannot fly. We think it’s mother still sings to it knowing that it is safe. I looked after it for a few days and it liked to sit on my head when I was at the computer…he was checking my work I think. It is sad to know they must adjust to their human carer’s lives. Fluffy as his name is has a cage but it happy to hop outside on the verandah and enjoys coming inside the house as well. You post was particularly apt and enjoyable.
Awww, I’m sure he’s love to fly away and have his freedom. Bless those that rescue these magnificent birds.
Have a terrific day. ☺
I very much enjoyed this brief intro into who you are, and I can attest to the fact that your love of wildlife photography is manifested in these photos and elsewhere in your blog! I think it takes both a seeing eye and a heart for God’s creatures to portray them with majesty and love. Thank you for a great addition to TST this week, your words are powerful and reflective, and your photos are beautiful! I’ll be curious to see what else we learn about you here this month!:-)
I love raptors, and all predators in nature. They are essential to balance. Sadly, the are often misunderstood. Did you write the poem or is from the raptor centre? Thank you for sharing.
Hi, I wrote the poem too as well as took the picture. 🙂 Thanks.
It’s amazing how strong religious upbringings create the people we are today.

I have a love for photography too. It has made me so much more mindful about my surroundings. Thank you so much for the follow, Mary.
Enjoy the rest of your day 🙂
You welcome, Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed your blog too.
I often wonder how wild birds feel when they’ve been rescued. Some become quite tame and enjoy being but there must be some that pine for their former freedom.
