Privilege : a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group of people.
I wonder through my life as a victim of privilege.
I take for granted all the blessings bestowed on me; not counting them but expecting them.
I belong to a group of privilege.
Never worry about my housing, my child’s schooling, my next meal.
I become immune to the plight of the less fortunate; the immigrant, the prisoner, the sick and frail.
I question my privileged state.
I forget to honor the One who made all the difference in my life.
I think myself above others.
Privileged, I believe that I deserve my place in society.
I forget the commands of God: Love the least of these.
Open your hearts to the immigrant and less fortunate.
If I am to be a victim of privilege no more; I take to heart the message above. I count my blessings and find ways to use my privilege to help others and further God’s kingdom.

Yes, I too am privileged in so many ways. It doesn’t even have to refer to money it can be good health. I sometimes take it for granted until it is taken from me. I have been blessed and I too want to use it for God’s glory. Great post!

Insightful perspective on privilege. I remember hearing a person speak after going on a missions trip to a third world country and they said that the Christians who were native to the area , living in poverty, were a more joyful and peaceful people than anyone she had seen, especially in the United States. Their true joy came from Christ not things.
Thank you for reminding us to emulate Christ in our service to others, and especially to those less fortunate.
Privileged people should help others up and not trample them down. This is a wise and soulful post, Mary. Thank you.

Isn’t this the truth about the western society, we expect and think we deserve all the priveleges when in reality we deserve nothing Only one Deserves anything and He gave it all up for us.
