Turning My Eyes Upon Him

January 29, 2015 By Mary Hill 6 Comments

Even in my illness and pain, He is with me.

Even in my illness and pain, He is with me.  (Picture from May 2013)

This post is written for Holly Mueller’s Spiritual Journey linkup. This week we are writing about Leigh Anne’s word, TURN.

Sometimes we fill stuck and out of touch. We fill unworthy. We fill lost. We fill so much negativity, and it can hit us like an avalanche.  All these black moments and moods, I know firsthand. I have these moments when my mood is out of touch with my life. I let pain just fog everything: my goals, my faith, my spirit, my relationships.

Even in the worst of these moments we can turn things around. It is a matter of capturing our thoughts and turning them over to the One who conquered all evil and darkness.

I love the song, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” Such a simple remedy for whatever troubles you encounter in life. When you feel let down, defeated, scared, tired, or lonely, He is there for you.  I know because He is always there for me. He has never let me down, and I have been in some pretty dark places. Just review some of my past posts and you will the truth of this statement. I have feared for my life at the hands of an abusive husband. I have been abandoned by another husband. I have failed at jobs. I have suffered pain from disabling conditions which have redirected my life in unimagined ways.

I came through these dark times though because of the one constant in my life: my faith in Jesus. He is all I need. He delivers me from my worst troubles. He grows me. He uses me. He provides joy unto me. He gives me people to love and cherish! He Loves Me! I just keep my eyes turned upon Him and He leads me on and gives me incredible peace and hope.

I hope you will turn your eyes on Him too. Let Him in and you will discover joy and peace indescribable.

    Mary,
How courageous to write about your journey towards Jesus and post a photo that reminds me of my chemotherapy days. I also chose Nicole Nordeman as one of songwriters this week because her song is so filled with hope. The lyrics are powerful and the melody catching. Even silent suffers can find solace in the arms of the Lord when their eyes turn to Him.
