My least favorite experience happened today: the dreaded filling of a cavity. It turned into a three hour ordeal. The dentist did a good job, but it was the very last tooth on the bottom right and I have a small mouth. (At least in size, but not when I upset or passionate about something.)
What do you do when your mouth is pried open and you are staring at the ceiling with two people leaning over you? When I wasn’t worried about drowning because of the dang water hose, I contemplated. Big word : to contemplate means to thing deeply or should I say daydream.
Okay, I am meandering, but there is a destination in mind. Time is an enemy some days. There are just not enough hours. Cliche, I know but so true. After three hours in the dentist office, I had to run an errand for my husband. Then I sat down for 30 minutes and it was time to get my daughter. Now, it is homework time.
Blogging just doesn’t look like it is going to happen today as interruption after interruption occurs. He wants my computer because we need to find him a new, used truck like yesterday. My daughter needs help with the math homework.
If I am going to write steadily and concentrate, it looks like I am going to have to wait til midnight. Oh wait a minute, that is when I have to catch up with the laundry and make sure my daughter’s exact clothes are ready for school and my husband’s work clothes are washed.
I know I sound like I am whining, but I really am not. These are the joys of wifehood and motherhood. I write joy with joy not sarcasm. It is hard though not to some days. Let’s face it, it can be tiring even for the most put together woman which I definitely am not. I am a very fuzzy and take everything as it comes woman.
So I turn on music and search for real joy and worship fills my mind for thirty seconds, “Mom, help.”
God is wonderful. He is true and just, just help me through this day of ups and downs and no turnarounds. I hear His voice. “Peace be still. I am God.” No knowing required. Now off to help with the factorization of 270,000 using exponents.
How do you find peace, time to write and contemplate in a crazy upside down day? Share your thoughts and ideas. I need them!

There is enough…time we just want/need to do too much. Wonder why that is?
No matter what we have to be grateful because we are blessed.
Days are crazy. But, we do what we like to do 🙂
I can identify with your post as nothing is ‘Fuzzy’ 🙂

We have been empty nesters for many years, so time is our friend. I am glad you could sit for at least 30 minutes before the “HELP call.” Thank you for sharing your inspiring post with us here at “Tell Me a Story.”
Life is hectic. After three hours at the dentist (Yuck) I would need some time to myself to “decompress” before I jumped in to all the family responsibilities that all women everywhere have to deal with. It does seem the writing always has to take a back burner – on Your time of which you have little (Now I’m meandering) Did I every tell you how much I love the rose?
I could so relate to this post, Mary, and I wonder why my life seems twice as hectic now as it did when I was raising two children. I am guessing that I move slower, am more disorganized (most certainly), and less motivated to chase dust bunnies and dirty laundry when my laptop and blog are calling me to come play! I know that as a mother there is always someone needing something done, and it goes with the role. Today your time for yourself got taken up by the dentist… and I share your discomfort with that procedure and a small mouth… terror would be the word that comes to mind. On regular days, I highly recommend setting aside one hour, or even just 30 uninterrupted minutes for yourself, designated as “do no disturb” time, so that you can focus on a bit of writing. It is such great therapy, and will leave your mind cleared of clutter and ready to resume the rat race again! I know how hard it is to write when “need to do” thoughts are swirling about in your head. Early morning and late evening are the best times, but at those times I am usually tired and opt for more pillow time instead! 🙂
So true, but everyone seems to have so much to do. My daughter is studying even more now after dinner. She has two quizzes tomorrow. My husband worked all and is still looking for said new/truck.
My immediate thought when I read this was “Do you feel as a wife and mother feel undervalued by the family?” Often as husbands and children we tend to not look as the safe constants in our lives. Your pride and love of your family may need to be supplemented by a bit of discipline to show that as a family unit all must work together for the whole families good…including yours!
