Truth and Gratitude: A Friday to Share Your Thankfulness for True Blessings

November 8, 2013 By Mary Hill 5 Comments

Five Minute Friday  By Mary Hill

8:15

Truth

The truth hangs in the air like diamonds, sparkling, and brilliant. We can grab on to the His truth and clutch it to our hearts.  Truth is life and brightness. It is faith and beauty.  When we find truth, we find grace and unmerited love. Truth is a bright shield and a standard to hide behind and lift for all to see in a desparate, dark world.

Truth is so hard to come by when we take our eye off of the One who blesses us daily with His tender mercies.

How do we find truth today when headlines scream dire predictions and warnings and when we have evil lurking to destroy us and devour us. Focus on Him, and His truth is our answer.

Theme: Gratitude

The 21 Day Countdown to Thanksgiving began yesterday and several bloggers have launched a 21 Days of Gratitude Challenge. Now when this challenge, actually began is fuzzy. This week the challenge has focused on family: the little hands in or family; the smiles we share; and the love we give to our spouses.

I am so thankful for my spouse’s desire to make all of his family happy.  He spends his days hard at work and then comes home with the simple goal of worshiping God throught spending quality time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.  It is so awesome that he finds is ultimate joy in making us all happy.  He really lives Joshua 24:14–15. He leads by example and serves the Lord daily.

Writing Nonfiction in November Project

The first week is almost done.  Are you participating in the challenge? Are are you working on the National Novel Writing Month?  What is your writing project for this month? Be sure to share in the comments so I can go to your blog and find out what you are writing.

I am thankful to my supporters. I want to be an encouragement to you too.

I really enjoyed your post about truth. God can definitely help us find it and keep what is honest in our hearts. Family is a wonderful thing to have. I’m doing Nanowrimo and for details on my project go here: http://queendsheena.blogspot.com/2013/11/what-do-i-want-for-nano.html

    Enjoy your weekend Mary.

Beautiful pictures, Mary! I love this, and I LOVE the writers who make us stop and be thankful! It’s so important in our busy, busy lives!
I LOVE the whole “thankful” concept, anywhere, everywhere! When I get stressed, I stop and think about everything I have to be thankful for, so much we take for granted!
I’m not doing any challenges right now, life, children, my crazy schedule have me so challenged I have to really dig deep and force myself to be thankful, every day! I can’t put anything more into my day. I almost didn’t do this today, and it’s FIVE minutes! My favorite 5 minutes of Friday!
Great post, great to see your smiling face, and the cute pink flower that becomes my pointer on your beautiful, well-written blog!
