Time to Celebrate and Be Thankful!

February 1, 2014 By Mary Hill 14 Comments

By Mary Hill

This song has been running through my head all morning.

“What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger….”

It is my theme song as we put the first month of a New Year into the can and start a new month: February.
1. I am so thankful that on the Internet there is such a great presence of Christians who want to share and love each other. I have joined so many Bible studies. I know, I am over doing it.

2. I am on GoodReads Christian Fiction Bloggers Group. They have so much great stuff going on. I don’t know how to keep up.  But it is fun just reading it all. I also signed up for their Read Through the Bible Chronological Challenge. Needless to say, I am way behind. But here is to trying.
3. Then there is the Missional Women’s Discipleship Groups. These are 10-week-long Bible discussion groups. They accepted me into Group 2 and assigned me to a private Facebook Group where I will be studying and connecting with other women.

4. But wait, it doesn’t stop there.  Have you heard of the Jesus Project? 5. You can get some really great free resources for the project by linking here.

Okay, how many thankful things am I up to as I celebrate the great community we have out there to learn and grow as Christian women? I counted five.

Now, back to my celebration of the end of January. I am going to close with some thankful pictures of our great blizzard (lol — one inch of snow!) and schools closed for a day and a half. These will be my 6 through 9 reasons for thankfulness this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

10. Also back to my original thought about the song running through my head. I am so thankful for new friends who keep me going and encourage me to write and grow.  Despite the pain, I want to get on here everyday and read, explore, and grow. Life is so good. Let’s rock out and celebrate!

This is the third year that I have done a Goodreads challenge for number of books per year. It looks like they have more going on than I realized. I will check that out next time I am on updating my challenge…which I hope is in a day or two.
This year I am doing a Bible study I had done years ago. I am not getting nearly as much out of it this time around. I am reading a devotional that is touching my heart much more deeply than the study. So, I may take a break from studies after this one winds down too.
Thanks for coming by to see what I am thankful for this week.

Hi Mary, by the end of the Spring you are going to be well-versed and strengthened in God’s Word. So thankful that we live in a day that so many resources are at our fingertips! Can’t wait to keep up with you on your blog and get to know you more! Blessings in Him! Melissa Deming

Reiterating the others above here, but I am so glad to see positive connections on the Internet instead of the negative. I’ve found some great people and things since starting my blog. And this is about the ninth post I’m seeing this weekend that talks about Goodreads…so I’m now off to FINALLY get myself signed on there. ๐Ÿ™‚
Hooray for good friends and support. Love the song. And I hope, as always, that you find some relief from pain!
    Have a wonderful week!

It’s so good to see the internet being used in positive, helpful ways. The goodreads group sounds especially interesting.
Even an inch of snow is pretty. Especially when it’s not on my yard. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, it was fun. Most of the snow was gone by the afternoon. I enjoyed exploring in it and the snowball fights.

It’s been a tough, painful month for me in many ways. That Kelly Clarkson song has gone through my brain many times. I’ll check out that Goodreads group. Have a great week.
