Today’s Theme:  What Makes You Smile

Beautiful things make me smile.  Thoughts of my children and grandchildren make me smile.  My pets make me smile.  My husband definitely brings smiles to my face with his unique humor and simplicity about life.  May favorite verse in the Bible sums up what makes me smile:

Meditate on These Things

Philippians 4: 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Finish the Sentence Friday

“The best and worst parts of blogging are…”

The best parts for me right now is learning new things; meeting “virtually” lots of new friends; and growing as a writer.  The worst part is I have not found the blog life balance yet. I spend too much time right now on this. I think it is because I am still learning and trying to grow as a blogger.

What do you think are the best and worst parts of blogging? Be sure to link up with Janine at Confessions of a Mommyaholic and share today. She also has some great co-hosts this week.

Five Minute Friday

This Week’s Theme Broken

I love this hope every week that is sponsored by Lisajo Baker. It is a lot of fun.  You write five minutes on a topic that is revealed at midnight every Friday morning without worrying about stopping or correcting as you write. If you haven’t joined this one you should.  Now for my five minutes:

Broken has such a heavy feel to it. Broken is associated with negative events in your life.  Sometimes being broken can be for a purpose to help us grow.  When we don’t want to listen to others; when we want to go our own way without thoughts of consequences; and we are to stubborn to admit we were wrong, we often find ourselves broken. It is a lonely place: brokeness.  How we use this time is important. We can use it to grow and mature, or we can become bitter and blame others. It is up to us. After the brokeness comes healing and happiness.  Hang in there during these times, God will provide a way out even if we got ourselves in trouble. He is a good God. Take a moment to pray and ask for His help and deliverance.  He will take us to the place we need to be.

I am finalizing Warriors Into the Wild by Erin Hunter. It is the first in the series, and I will be reading more. This book is a win/win if you like cats, fantasy, and adventure.  Enjoy this offical trailer for Erin Hunter’s website:

I guess I should have mentioned this as number 1. I was a reporter, once upon a time, and my editor always fussed at me for burying the lead.  I have a new blog design! I am working on an official celebration post for next week so stay tuned!.  Let me know what you think about my new design. In the meantime, I am so thankful to Iris at the Blue Birdhouse for her creativity and great design. If you like what you see, visit her website at: http://charmingblogdesign.blogspot.de/

Yeah! Thanks for the awesome shout out about the Friday Flash Blog on The Jenny Evolution. I really do love seeing everyone’s posts. And, trust me, I’m not crafty either. (I barely passed 3rd grade art.) But I do love looking at all of the amazing things people create. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading 🙂

I love how you take a negative thing like Broken and spin it into a positive. The new blog design is lovely and pleasing to the eye. Also I gave you a Shine On blog award today. I too enjoy meeting new bloggers and time management is a pricess. Enjoy your weekend Mary.
