What if soldiers one day decided to put down their guns and play?
Waddle and quack like ducks.
On both sides, enemies break out into
Spontaneous play
Waving their hands, skipping, and smiling
Like kindergarten children on a playground
Instead … of a battlefield.
Through the eyes of a child are many answers. When we approach life like a child, we can all work to build patience, self reliance, and love for one another. Play is a valuable tool to help reinforce ideas and ideals.
There is an old poem or saying about “I learned all I need to know in kindergarten.” Do you remember it? It spoke of waiting your turn, playing by the rules, not hitting others and never taking what does not belong to you. Since its writing in 1988 by Robert Fulghum, it has been a cult phenomenon.

Mary this was a lovely, uplifting post that left me smiling at the end of a very trying day! I will remember that quote the next time lightning flashes for sure! I loved the concept of setting aside the dark game of war in favor of game where all sides can learn to play together! I have always believed that if it was left to the mothers and children peace would be possible! I’ll definitely have to visit your sister’s blog, and see the new header she created for you. Sounds like your sister is just as awesome as you! Thank for such a great TST bright spot this week! 🙂

Your idea of all the soldiers (also all the people??) playing instead of fighting (and arguing??) sounds too good to be true. I wish. [There will always be wars and rumors of wars??]

I was just thinking today how nice it would be if nations would handle their differences by playing a game instead of going to war. Kind of like a dual, but it would be fun. Maybe I should suggest it to the United Nations. War is so horrible and lots of lives could be saved this way. Players could be with their families and just come to play the game, then go back home.
Amen to that. I wish you were in control. As long as it doesn’t go the Star Trek extreme. 🙂

Children will certainly absorb more when learning is fun. Wish I could tell tell some of my teachers from 60-70 years ago! Great post today.

Inspiration comes in many form. Nice scripture choice Mary. I love that thought about lighting, so sweet. That poem is wonderful but I do hope the middle and back join the play too. OK I’m terrible. Anyway good post today Mary.

Hello there, Mary!
I’d like to say few things here. First, I like the things written in the first picture (Getting your child up and active) Second, That things about soldiers. This is not the first blog I read something about war, and I am saddened with what is happening in the southern part of our country (The Philippines). We were all kids once, we enjoy playing. Now the kids in the war zone play tug of war and hide and seek very differently from how we played them.
Third, I like this – “I was told that lightning happens when God is taking pictures of us.
Remember to smile . . .”. You made me smile. You’re like lightning. Haha!

Fifth, that bible verse. These past few days, I always come across that. I was reading a book, and there it was. I was reading something in the web, and there it was again. And some other instances, And then here ;o)
